listening to Fabriclive 37 now...

hard to describe - somewhere between slowed down drum and bass with tinges of grime and techno in... most stuff is really poorly produced, but its coming out of bedrooms around the country at the moment

DJs playing this stuff have been billed on the same nights as techno and minimal house in london...

and Martin you're right again!

yes, i like dubstep a lot!

both burial albums are amazing and i listen to them constantly.

I have this kode 9 set from sonar last year, that's pretty sick:

theres a mix of that same night available

i think most of the folks on this board would dig pinch "underwater dancehall"
amazing soulful dubstep
definitely puts the "poorly produced" comments to rest

same fucking basslines, a wet fart trapped in metalic pants, disjointed beats that suites those with no natural rhythm, you could have an epilectic fit to this and the cunts around you would think it was a new trendy dance sweeping the country.

I listened, and the best of it is modelled on music from 2 decades ago, although less middle class kids living in gentrified ex ghettos trying to be "street" back then, unlike now.

its funny how the British Music press

Yes, what's even funnier is that THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A MUSIC PRESS.

Unlike places like here, where we ain't got none, and no record stores either.

On the other hand, I am surprised why you couldn't see the visceral quality in Dubstep that makes 18-year olds love this mad
bass music, and why it could be so popular with them right now.

Example: most decent Dubstep releases on vinyl still move 4,000 to 5,000 units with no problems.

Had Mala from Digital Mystikz play with me over at Deep Space 3 weeks ago, and it was nothing short of tremendous, and a very
inspiring vibe. (Besides which we were packed because the kids came in force to support)

I do agree that - just as in any genre - there are a lot of terrible copycat releases, but isn't the job of the DJ to do their
homework and expose fresh new music, (not just new releases of an old genre) rather than rehashing the same tired formula?

Dubstep is definitely providing me with a lot of fresh material for that, especially this new kind that bridges between that and Techno,
like the tracks that 2562 and Martyn are making. As well, the stuff that Pinch makes is truly brilliant, and props to Headhunter, D1,
Coki, Applebim, Truth, Benga, Loefah and many others for pushing it forward.

Respect to the Dubstep Massive!

FK, i's a luv yoooOOOooU.

youre one of my all time fav DJs and I will always be a bigtime fan.

HOWEVER

the points you bring up in regards Dubstep and how "most decent" releases sell around 4500 units are impressive in this day and age but I can make the same argument for indie/punk rock 7' singles as well. They both come off as a fad for the younger kids these days. (imo)
i could be wrong, but then again i too have 10 years + in the dance music business so what do i know.

point is..........you like it & i think its shite, but i like you and your superb musical tastes so i guess we can both agree to disagree in regards to dubstep

What happened to new beat? That's what I want to know. :conf44: And how funny and nonsensical will the music video be? :conf06: Where's electonica? Oh that's right. That was 1995. Something else equally fake and stupid is gracing the cover of MixMag. Should appeal to some 16 year old white kid in the suburbs. Someone else is ripping off Jamaican music go figure. It's instant gratification time. You're a rasta man too. :conf44:
