What's the best way to get rid of the vinyl?

1. Negotiate a flat fee, and sell it all at once?

2. Ebay; piecemeal?

3. Allow someone to cherry pick, bargain per peice, and dump the rest?

I'm feeling real "Sammyrock" right now. I'm thinking about cashing in, and would like to know some of my options regarding getting rid of the vinyl.

P.S. Investing is about time, maybe the time has come to dump the vinyl?

Peace

I would at first pick out the gems of the whole collection and sell them via Ebay. Nothing beats Ebay when it comes to ridiculous prices.

Peace.

I think we missed the time to really cash in. Or no? Is now the time? Hmmm...

I've been contemplating shifting towards a smaller collection and encoding anything I loved along the way. It's a lot of work but I'm sure I'd regret losing it for good.

It would be ideal to own only 200 records at a time and sell/encode one for every new one I got. The bulk of my collection sits in tons of boxes until I remember something and go dig it out.

keep it. Trust me, you'll regret it later.

Unless it's pure CRAP, you will look back and wonder why????

We live once; keep it and embrace like no other.

don't turn those records into orphans...

if you have to, ebay it. do not take it to a record store, you'll get ripped off.

I'm listening to a Leonard Part Sixx mix from Bring The Heat. Starts off with Gladys Knight and the Pips "Taste A Bitter Love". That album has "Landlord" and "Bourgie Bourgie", and I believe is still out of print.

How many of y'all threw out (or sold) Gladys's Columbia Recordings (critics bombed them!) and now regret it. Sinister's right. Keep it.

No way will I give up (wax):
Slave: Showtime (still not out on CD), Stone Jam
Echoes of an Era (got it on CD, but still...)

Music is one of my true passions. I love buying records and playing them at home for pure enjoyment. Over the years, some of my collection have become quite valuable, but I would never part with it. It's part of who I am.
TAC, do what you feel is in your own best interest. But, never put a price on your passion.
You might regret it, in the end.

Just a thought! :D

Just a thought! :D Thank you for your thoughts. But these days I am buying like I play somewhere, which I don't. For me, the event has become the purchasing of the music. I'm examining where the medium is headed, as well as what I am contributing to this whole thing, and what I'm doing it.

My support these days amount to my music purchasing. Trust me, the dollar amounts are staggering.

But what's the point of buying music and just sitting it in a crate. Its getting to the point of me not even knowing what I have. What's the point. I say? I'm starting to feel like my money would be better spent in a home theater.

I'd sell to ebay before the shop I work for. The other month I sold about 150-200 records on ebay and got about 400-500 UKP. I wouldn't have got that in exchange at a record shop.

A friend of mine told me "dont' miss your calling". Nine years and four basses later (gettin' a MusicMan before the end of the year) I'm a musician. And it's been a blessing.

You're one of the few lawyers I know of that talk less about the law and more about your other passion(s), your music. Trust me, I deal with lawyers everyday (job, functions) and I know.

Of course, what you do with your passion is ultimately up to you. Peace.

I've decided to stop buying, and to start listening to what I've got..

don't sell yet.. give it some time..If you're still convinced to sell within a year, sell it through Ebay mostly..
