The score for that film is pure brilliance. Beauty. His father perhaps the most underated composer in America.

The film, style-wise is grand.

Yup. Bill Lee did some really good scores for his son. Also that film was done with no permits from the city.

Copped mine yesterday. Yessss. The song that was playing when the dancers serenaded Nola would make a great house cut (hint hint) producers.

The intro to that song was sampled by The Unspoken Heard, Hip Hop group.

Bill Lee lives two blocks away from me. I had the pleasure of meeting him over the summer. His youngest son from his second wife plays sax, hear him practicing, sounds damn good.

I saw the film when i was young, what the hell is it about? What i got out of it was that Nola was a sexually liberated woman of the eighties. Was that the message that spike was trying to convey? What other messages did the film have in it?

I'll tell you... I recently framed an billboard sized frame of the movie poster. I am happy as sh*t cause I've carted it around in a tube for almost as long as I've been married.

Plus Bill Lee is dead, so for Bill Blake to be talking about having the pleasure of meeting him and how he lives down the street is rubbish....

Bill Blake such a frigging hipster!!!

One of my favorite films ever. I will definitely be picking this up.

SilkyPhyll,
The hours I have pondered and argued over what the point of it all is are many. As a sexually liberated, artist, woman who lives in Brooklyn, I will simply say Spike got my slice of life more right than anyone else I can think of. I am a witness that Nola's incredible life is some folks' all day, every day existence...

Yeah shalewa im gonna pick up a copy to.Seeing it as an adult will probably be a different experience than seeing it as a child.Nola seemed to be a woman who refused to be what society said she should be.I find that kinda cool, she lived her life the way she wanted to live it.I remember one scene that disturbed me and that was the rape scene.

On the low, The original cats who were cast to be in, 'She's Gotta have it', Were, Larry Fishburne(Who was cast to play the role that Tommy Hicks played), Giancarlo Esposito(Who was cast to play the role of Greer, The playboy/LOL), And, Kadeem Hardison(Who was cast to play the role of Mars Blackman/LOL), For whatever reason, Larry Fishburne,Giancarlo Esposito and

Kadeem Hardison, Were not down with the movie(Spike Lee never mentioned why those cats were not down with the movie, In an interview Spike Lee gave in the early 90's with Fab Five Freddy from MTV raps in the 90's), Spike Lee also mentioned in the interview with Freddy, That, She's Gotta have it',

Was the worst movie that he ever directed(Along with the actors and Actresses in, 'She's Gotta have it', Spike Lee also mentioned during the interview with Fab Five Freddy, That he learned alot while directing,'She's Gotta have it', In 1986(Along with Ernest Dickerson, Spike Lee's Former Longtime Cinematographer from There NYU Film School Days in the early 80's

In New York), Also, Spike Lee has a history of putting more than a few cats down with his movies through the years(Denzel Washington,Wesley Snipes,Bill Nunn,Giancarlo Esposito,Roger Smith,Etc), But, Spike Lee does not have a history of putting down alot of of the same young ladies, That have appeared in his movies through the years(I can't think of one actress, Who has appeared in more than one Spike Lee movie, Except Spike Lee's sister/LOL),

Hopefully, Spike Lee will work again with Larry Fishburne, On the low, Larry Fishburne, Mentioned in the late 80's(After School days in 1988/LOL), That he(Larry Fishburne), Would not work with Spike Lee again, Because, Of Spike Lee's approach to discipline on the set and Spike Lee not allowing actors and actresses, To do scenes over(That the Actors and Actresses, Felt that they could have done alot better with a second or third take).
