What kind of relationship worth keeping requires a person to give up his or her creative center? What keeps a person from being able to connect with others to the extent that s/he totally excludes significant romantic partnership from life and chooses what for most people is little more than an expensive hobby? Most sane partnerships that have any depth involve folks who can appreciate that whether the interest is shared or individual a healthy relationship requires that the partners be able to direct some part of their energy and attention outside of the relationship. Sorry, but I had to cut this and start a new thread, because the other one is nuts.

I was going to post a one liner and all, but this cut right to the point in a serious way.

When I was younger, I had this idea in my head that the woman I would marry was the one that would make me quit listening/purchasing music.

Somewhere along the line, I came to realize that kind of woman was not for me. The kind of woman I eventually married wound up to be the one that accepted me and my music. No choice had to be made.

Now for my orginal statement.

"Music over p*ssy!! http://deephousepage.com/smilies/focking.gif Someone is out of their *%@#*ING minds" This is the R rated version, btw.

Peace

Wassup TAC??? I really can't see a scenario that would come up where one would actually have to seriously make a choice. Yeah you're right though..for real I was seriously gonna give up weed though for this girl but that's a different thing altogether. I really wish one day that I meet a lady that can at least tolerate House. So far I have not had this happen but we still kicked it.
Peace

I have a good wife, she likes house, actually is getting turned out on the new stuff, she doesn't like classics now,she just does not party like she used too.

I'm fine with that.I can not get that shit from playing records.Just glad I'm not a bitter ass man.

I think it's more about accepting one's passions in general, not just music. I will listen to my music (jazz, house, classics), play my bass and watch my sports (The 'Cuse, track, etc). Anyone who cannot accept who I am or what I do better deal with someone else. Peace.

My girl's an ex-goth, which is cool. I drop "My Spine Is The Bassline" or "The Jezebel Spirit" on her and she goes nuts!

i always thought that i would once find my other half as they say, the one girl that can relate to and understands everything i like, feel, think, do, dislike, etc and that we would be on a everlasting harmonic trip thereafter (well the last part i didn't actually anticipate but it just follows).

once i started to let go of this i found my mate.

i will have to agree with Tac. my ex tried that bs..."either me or the music" and then she had to go! at one point i was gonna quit music because of her until i came to my senses. women come and go and you can always get another woman.

I just thought about this lady I dated for 3+ years and she didn't like ANYTHING that I did..She didn't like my friends, She didn't like the fact that I partied, she didn't like a whole lot of shit I did. So I'm thinking what did she like?? Well she loved me but I don't think she loved me for me..just what she wanted me to become. Well after the second year she started to be like a chore. If I was 10 min. late she had an attitude. If I was doing something prior to us going out.. she had an attitude, she was always correcting my english.. I could go on forever (I don't know why I stayed with her in the first place).. well It got to the point that I just put up with here until I just got fed up. She damn near had a heart attack when I broke up with her. My mother didn't get on my case the way she did. When I broke it off it felt like I was free again.

I have two women in my life...my wife and my music. Be careful with that. What happens when that's all you have in common? One day you wake up and realized that you've married a club buddy with personal issues and problems. Years later you find yourself stuck and not too crazy about the music anymore because now it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
