Maybe things are different in Chicago than in New York but I have been rocking out to Baby Wants To Ride all damn week.
Its been years since I listened this record and Im just like DAMN!
They just dont make cuts that fucking funky anymore.
It still gives me chills when that little held keyboard line comes in over that little quirky sounding prince sequence.
Fuckin nasty.
They really broke the mold with that cut. If that shit aint house, I dont know what is.

(I did ask Frankie Knuckles, who -ever the gentleman- said he didn't have a problem with it)
Time to change my signature !!! Let's see....

magic_juan We all heard the stories on how worried Trax Records was about accurate publishing credits in 1986...

I think the original just says Walton underneath the title track (Jamie's real last name, I think). As far as the pressing, mine is (surprisingly) pretty decent.

magic_juan smile.gif Its alwasy been a shame that you had to be relieved when your Trax pressing actually sounded ok.

For what it's worth, I did spend an inordinate amount of time 'cleaning up' the master of this song to make it sound reasonable on the 'Choice: A Collection of Classics'™ which came out on Azuli a year ago.
Actually, the hiss in the intro was driving me so crazy, did some special DSP tricks to make it disappear. You can really notice it on the CD (un-mixed) -if you play from CD's- Also slowed it down as it was not originally that fast if I remember. (insert 'fog icon' © here)

FK </font>[/QUOTE]Yea that record is like 130 bpms or over.
Funny thing is its one of those records that are fast but you would never realize it just listening to it, only when you mix it or count it....that just goes to show you how funky it really is.

talking of forgotten cuts .... I just dug out Night Moves by Rickster, Seasons of Love by Keith Nunnally and Lake Eerie's Sex For Daze to play tonight ... rediscovering your old records is as much fun as buying new ones - it's cheaper and comes with memories thrown in!

There is a 12" by Paris Ford Project "If I Go Too Far" with an early Pal Joey mix. Really sounded cool when I pulled it out about a month ago. smile.gif

I would also mention as i just heard it about 2 seconds ago Zakar - He Reigns, an otherwise forgotten early nineties moment

The original pressing was so fast....when it came out folks were like, WTF!!.....we were use to hearing it 'slower' when Larry use to play it at the Garage(oh, I forgot, Hippie said I'm too young to have been there...what do I know anyways), so when the record came out, we had to play it at -4 just to get the same feeling....it's funny how the 'speed' of music has evolved because playing it now at -4 is too slow to mix with the newer stuff now....I like it at -4.
Good call on this lost classic, JLennie...
Another lost classic for me is "Don't Lead Me" by Paris Gray(I think).....I have been banging this in the comfort of my home for the roaches and they love it....brings back memories of those Wild Pitch parties, who stole their name from ____, and they stole it from _______, and evrybody was happy.

As they used to say, "you ain't never lied." Need to hear this on a big club system - the base and synth kicks get you right in the gut. First heard this when Marshall Jefferson was the guest jock at the Red Parrott. I couldn't find it in NYC, had to get order it from a record store in Chicago.

All of these that you guys mentioned are hot. Is anybody familiar with "Never Let You Go" by William S. on trax? Also, still feeling "Your Love" by Eric Bell on Trax. That song almost sounds like an early 80's import from a style and structure standpoint. you can what you want about Trax, but they certainly could release sound good instrumental tracks.

I think alot of people don't realise the magnitude of "share" by Alexander Hope/Blaze (Perfect Pair). I play it to death, but I have NEVER heard any other DJ play it in my life.
