Is $200-300 dollors alot to charge for a 5-6hr party??I cant understand some peeps. Some lady want from me to Dj for a New Years party for $100!! I mean I love music, but where the misunderstanding is that it takes a substacial amount of time to dissasemble the equipment, pack it up,load the truck, get to the party,unload,re-assemble,play the music, dissasemble(again),pack up the load, pack it into the truck, unpack the truck,re-assemble the equipment..Jeez.....now she wants to pay me $100.Would you do it???? Back in the day I got a $100 for a 4 hr gig..20+yrs later the rate is still the same?? lol I need your help on this peeps.. graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

brotha S......

you should get more than $100 for that amount of work, especially if you're lugging all of that stuff alone.

next...make sure you sign a contract!!! trust me on this one(verbal agreements are for the birds today). also, get half of the loot up front via a money order.......

Absolutly,I no longer do work without a signed contract, even for events such as this.$100 bucks? I will bring a boom box and several cds and that should satisfy em.....lol :D smile.gif

sammy, the standard mobile dj rate is $125/hr. if we are bringing our own sound we would start with that then negotiate from there, $100 isn't hardly worth carrying all your ish there. if you were to rent sound it would cost anywhere from $75-$150 (for a small room that is). so i use to make the ppl pay for sound as an addtl, if they were acting chinchy. now i have done my fair share of clubs and parties for $75 or a bar tab, but it just sux if you are bringing all your own sound. good luck my friend.
