Promos?

I could be late, but the last time I checked a promo was something that was given out before the release date. I see Traxsource will label a song as a promo and put a release date above the track. If you are able to buy it, would that be considered released?

Pre-release means it costs more or you wait til the release date and pay less. So in essence I think "promo" isn't really a promo in the sense of promo vinyl. Although promo vinyl would be for sale as well.
