I've been reading about the Hacienda, the UK club which pioneered the acid house in the late 80's early 90's A conversation between the owners factory records boss tony wilson and bernard sumner and pete hook [new order]Towards the end when the venue was set to close Tony said to bernard "Its been one long ordeal from hell but if you could press a button and make this whole thing never exist you couldn't press it could you" to which bernard replied "where the f**king button" Obviously you would never want to press any such button now but were there ever times that you thought "ahh why bother i'm not going to have a party tonight, it'll never take off i'm going to have a night in, kick off my shoes and watch 9-5" Did you know what you were getting yourself into? Your story is one of legend and we owe you a great debt but have you ever considered what your, our and clublands life would be like if you never opened up your apartment, What would the fabric of clubland look like now, would it be any different? I'm not discounting everyone elses involvement and indeed this question is open to you all. Basically I look at the photos of the DHP Picnic and its makes me think about fate "How different would it have been if your doors were never opened"

I would be interested to here your opinions [as well as anyone elses] on this.

Thanks

Greetings TEK:

To put it simply, no. The sheer thought that there would not again be another party, would probably cause my demise.....it is what keep's me going.

I do believe that the Loft party has helped, in some ways, to raise the consciousness and the quality of "party life" as we know it. But it is a constant struggle for most, especially for the profession of the DJ and the people who want to celebrate life through music.

Often it is an endurance test to just simply go out to hear and enjoy music, whether it be a concert, a dance, or whatever. The scene for the most part has lapsed back into "other priorities" on the part of club owners and management.

I do believe, IMHO, that a total renaissance has to take place again, and to give back to the people the respect, that they so deserve.
