In a worldwide survey on hunger conducted by the United Nations last month one of the key questions directed at its members was worded as follows:
“Please give us an honest Opinion on solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world“.
Surprisingly the survey turned out to be a total flop.
In Africa survey participants didn’t know what “food“ is;
Eastern Europeans didn’t know what “honest” means;
Western Europeans could not grasp the term “shortage“ properly;
The Chinese didn’t understand the concept of “opinion“;
In the Middle East the participants asked for a definition of the word “solution“;
South Americans essentially had no understanding for the term “please“;
And in the United States no one knew what exactly was being referred to as “rest of the world“
