as far as parties go??? When I was up there I went to a party in Harlem.. But noone from NYC ever says anything about these areas. I got pluggers for parties in the Bronx but you'd think by reading the board that nothing goes on north of 79th... what gives??

Most of the major clubs/business/etc are in the lower parts of Manhattan... that's why you find most clubs below say.. 30th? (Yes I know Shelter is on 39th, and Exit is above 30th too). Manhattan and Brooklyn have the ease of commute, especially Manhattan... it's in the middle of everything... All the boroughs and Jersey too.
Harlem might have a couple good spots, but try and get your major club inhabitants to attend a party in Harlem... good luck with that one. Rep and distance working against it for "major" parties. Small parties are a different story. Same thing for the Bronx.

By the way, has anyone else noticed how bank fees have quietly gone up (now $2 to use a foreign ATM).
