This is my last topic today graemlins/rofl.gif

What do you like to hear? The Dj's are always talking about what to play...but what sends you into a frenzy? what drives you wild?

Me, I don't care what any DJ says...some house classics do it..

Girl I'll House You
Perculator...yes I work up a damn sweat on this..
These Sounds Fall Into My mind...I'm losing it...
Brighter Day...I'm the ballerina with the huge smile tutu'n and spinning my ass off...
and the ultimate...Gypsy woman...a dj in Atlanta played this and the floor went ****ing banana's..he turned off the music and hundreds of people sang the lyrics...then he bought the music back in and everybody went ****ing wild...it was sick and I love this shit...

so it's cool to play these classics in the midst of some new and old ...

also, I'm not really a tracky person, but Boo Williams and Fathom are teaching me the patience of riding out the tracky tunes because they always back them with some soulful heartfelt deeeeep vocal house joint...riding out the tracky and the reward is the cut-in of the vocal track...it's freaking crazy....so dancers what do you want or need to keep you going?

What drove me into a damn-near heart attack frenzy in Detroit was Glenn Underground's ENTIRE set! Some of the songs I remember from that night:

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough"...Jocelyn Brown/Salsoul...I don't think I had heard that played at a party since the Powerhouse...I nearly wept behind that isht...
"On day soon, our time is coming" (not sure of title) Roy Ayers
"Outta work, need a job, no money, times are hard" (don't know the title)
Glenn's "Look inside yourself"

Others that make me swoon (and so what if it's "singalong disco"!):

Disco Fever
Was That All it Was
I Got a Big Bee
Love Injection
Just As Long As I Got You
It Looks Like Love
Dance and Shake Your Tambourine
Rock Me Again & Again & Again &Again & Again & Again
"Everybody loves a good thang" (not sure of title)

Bebe Winans - "Thank You" just a great MAW song
Osunlade - "Rader Du" one of my favorite songs ever. I love me some harmonica!
A Guy Called Gerald - "Voodoo Ray" One of the great house songs of all time, IMO. Reminds me of The Tunnel and Brooklyn house parties in the late 80s.
Donna Summer - "I Feel Love" what can you say...

and curently

Amp Fiddler - "Love & War" (version) - Timmy played this last Saturday and he must have played it 3 or 4 times in a row cuz it's so damn short. It's an amazing song and that dude's voice really reminds me of Marvin. NOt to mention how timely it is given the current political climate.

That song that goes "You got me love dancing (?),
the Nina simone "feeling good," (though I've heard it enough recently).
Lately I'm finding that gospel house songs really make me happy. "We are one" by Urban blues project, "Allright with me." Yeah, I'm a sucka for songs calling for unity and joy and happiness.
I'm also a sucka for anything Kerri Chandler does. I always dance for Kerri. graemlins/1luvu.gif graemlins/1luvu.gif graemlins/1luvu.gif graemlins/1luvu.gif graemlins/1luvu.gif

I am easy to please I like the new, classics, and the real deep disco. Pretty much if you are playing what I am hearing on most of the mixes on this site I am straight.

I have been wanting to hear a straight up old school slam dance set. Nothing but the cuts we use to slam to. A party In a big enough area so we can clown. I haven't got pick up an thrown in along time.

This is EXACTLY why I hate it when some DJ tells me I shouldn't be playing such and such song because "its played out" and shouldn't be played again.

Its all about the delivery.

For me...
Hot Music
Brighter Days
Lift Every Voice
My Peice of Heaven
I'll Be Your Friend
New Jersey Deep
When You Touch Me
Change For Me
Dance (Earth People)
Space Cowboy
God Made Me Funky
Gypsy Woman (the original version, I hate the new remix that's floating around)
Block Party
Casa De X
Dream (Phrana)

mmmm... I could go on for days....

Peace

The best nights out for me usually involves me being thrust into the zone. It really is like being lost but the most pleasant being lost I've ever experienced. Sometimes the music has me feeling like I'm flying through space or hanging out in some enchanted garden where everything is alright. I get so "zoned" sometimes the next day when people are talking about tracks they heard on our local message board I'm like "Huh? ... You mean you didn't see that big planet too as you were flying through space? What about the garden? You must have made it to the enchanted garden ..."

I'm usually always talking in "feelings." smile.gif
