Tokyo loves its house, and as the culture is generally polite and respectful, this fosters a great vibe at the parties.

As for ex-pats, it’s virtually nonexistent, with the exception of DJ Alex, who came over mid-nineties from France.

It’s something I’m looking into for 2004, I want to get a monthly night up and running, where new international talent gets a chance to spin in Tokyo.

All the clubs over here, like there big name DJ’s, or the hyped up next big thing and language can be a real barrier, i.e. the promoters I want to talk to, smaller scale, more underground, don’t speak English.

So, it looks like I’ll be doing it for myself in 2004, I have a really good space, just need to promote it in Japanese and get a buzz going.

There’s a lot of Japanese lurkers on here, so a lot of DJ’s on DHP would be known, it shouldn’t be too hard to do - we need a DHP party in Tokyo for 2004..
