Gap Band - "Outstanding". This seems to always remind me of sunny morning. I seem to play it on weekend mornings.

Ptaah - "Staring at the Sun (At Jazz Remix)". I am addicted to this track. I play it in the morning at home and then play it at my desk when I get in. Very bouncy.

Change - "Paradise". Another one that gets me moving with a smile.

SpongeBob Square Pants - "I'm Ready I'm Ready". Alright...it aint a song, but he does do some sort of I'm Ready thing when he heads to work. I can dig it.

Ron H. and alot of DJ's would slow it down in the early AM sometimes. I would wake up(and still do) and play some of these songs.

Recent memories of New york mornings a few weeks ago still fresh on my mind . David at the Loft playing Gap Band's - yearning for your love "damm I wish I was dancing with a lady when that came on " . TIS after the Loft - Herb Martin playing Bobby Hutcherson's - NPU from Linger Lane LP and the following week Timmy Regisford playing it around 11.30am . The nicest musical morning memories of late..

Peace Alex :D

It's hard to say....

I think a good one for the morning would be Bill Withers "Lovely Day"

Carole King's Tapestry
Simon and Garfunkle's Greatest Hits
The Spinners Greatest Hits
Anything slow by the Isley Brothers (TNeck years)

Any deep, jazzy house mix in my collection.

an ideal, mellowed-out morning for me would probably be the following:

SOS Band -- High Hopes
SOS Band -- No One's Gonna Love You
Fatback -- Sunshine Lady
Fatback -- Go Out With A Bang (???)/it's from their 1985 "So Delicious" album
Pennye Ford -- Don't You Know That I Love You
First Love -- It's A Mystery To Me
Janice Bulluck -- Do You Really Love Me (can't thank Ultra enough for getting the mp3 to me.)
Sunfire -- Young, Free, and Single (i'm on the hunt for their 1982 album on warner brothers)
Bill Withers -- Oh Yeah
D-Train -- Child of Love

I am partial to Stevie Wonder in the morning but I also LOVE to hear a little Jackson 5, my favorite being "Show You the Way to Go" from THE JACKSONS 1976 album. So sweet!

got to add in The Controllers "Stay" from 1986...i just heard it today after forgetting about it for ages....the steady drum machine pattern punctuated by cowbells makes for an ideal morning song to get out of bed and get the day started....i could imagine how this would have sounded as a dub. :D :D

How early in the morning are you talking about? For the wee-hours, lets say, at sunrise, it definitely has to be Underworld's "Cups." Otherwise, music to my ears in the morning is CNBC, and the weather channel -- you never know when living in Pgh. Bleh!

I remember getting ready for school and listening to Ken'Spider'Webb on the radio. He would always play 'Sassafras Girl' by Pleasure. Then as an adult I would play "Love Sensation' for a quick pick me up.
