yo Guys!
big thanks to my friend barry @unheardhousedjs for putting my mix up!!
Basically i have been listening to house music for around 14 years but only took up djing around 6 months ago!I have played an instrument and been in a band for years but had never played turntables.Over the last few months i have made mixes and listened back to them for personal reasons(check mixing/flow ect). Most of mixes had been organised with regards to selection ect and to be honest i wasnt keen on any of them.
this mix that has been posted was not pre planned or practised(as you will see) lol but just me waking up and playing off the cufff.it may not be technically great but i think the selection is good!
Anyways if anyone does listen any feedback would be appreciated!
here is the link http://www.unheardhousedjs.co.uk/Mixes/BEANitsallabout.ram
Here is the tracklisting!!
:D :D
Bean - Its all about selection!!!

Mmmh... I don't like this kind of house music, but the mix is correct.
Good selection for the ones who love this kind of records indeed.
I'm listening right now. Nice selection of music and good mixing, beani. ;)
Better Days...that's my jam. That's one of the most beautiful piano jams from Blaze.

Thanks albert.i am very wary of my mixing technique still.I still miss a beat now and again and to be honest after 6 months i have millions to learn but im trying.I was using vestax pdx 2000s when i made this mix and i really liked them tables but i swapped them 2 weeks ago for 1200s. it seems the 1200s are totally different lol.back to the drawing board again lol!
Cheers! :D

Good selection for the ones who love this kind of records indeed. i like lots of house music and this is a kinda chilled out mix really.i tried to do a mix that was mellow with nice vocals but not to clubby sounding!Something youcan listen to too when chilling out but still uplifting!
Thanks for the compliments even although you dont dig the music!

Hello Bean
Congrats on your first online mix and a 6months-late welcome to the world of DJing.
I'm enjoying the mix. (I'm up to Days Like This)
I think your description of it as chill but uplifting is very appropriate. The mix is working well for me while I'm here slaving away at work.

Or people who dont need to pay me well wishes or props cos they dont wanna hurt mt feelings ect. This is why i put my mix link on this site cos i new i would get feedback from folks whether it be good or bad.

Nice grooves.Reminds me of one of those chill out comps.I don't get all into that bs dj shit...if it's grooovin',I like it.
I think most cats nowadays who make online mixes try to play everything they just got at the shop.Sounds like you are just playing some tunes.Sounds damn good for you to be on for 6 months.Just keep it up and try to find your personal musical heaven. No need to play for dj's,cause they will not hire you... ;)

Ive heard a lot of people say technics are better tables and that is what i always believed. To be honest tho, i kinda liked the vestax but maybe i will agree with everyone else once i get used to my new 1200s

Easy Beany,as a mod you're supposed to dig a little deeper in those crates!! graemlins/spanka.gif graemlins/grinyes.gif
On a real note... musical culture/background does matter...i think that music like the one you have played in this set is a cross selection of what can be considered the next step of good, well plyed, well produced ,rich, sultry soul/jazzfunk music...lots of soul people are embracing those
sounds after years of total division beetween who liked soul and the "proper house"(80's raw
minimal sound/early 90's sounds) people(at least in UK/Italy).
Late '80's and early '90s have certanly their dose of soulful grooves(esp. in the mid/down tempo dept.) but you still hear that tipical
sound that does't take you back to the great days
of black music..
It's a real shame to me that lot of this music is dismissed by many as lounge music.
Anyway i'm so happy you're getting such a response, you can add my positive note!
Ciao!!

Ciao!! lol.yeh i would say a lot of the vibes s on that mix are like that too.although i like the total house sound(jacking chicago stuff)i also liked a lot of brand new heavies, galliano, young disciples ect back in the early 90s.i guess when i made the mix i wanted to play summit a little jazz influenced but still keeping the housey feel.I hope i succeeded
When purchasing records lately it has been hard to get all i want as that will take a lifetime so i have been trying to get a lot of these kind of vibes but i have still been trying to buy the big clubby/vocally tracks too.Im really just trying to build a musical collection up that i can play when chilling or if i ever get asked to plat out somewhere.
Alongside the type of stuff on that mix ive been buying stuff on soulfuric deep, nervous, susu shelter ect.I didnt wanna just buy jazzy mellow house so maybe the next mix will be more uptempo and clubby sounding.
I did play the mix a little safe and put down a lot of well known tracks but most of the stuff i have been buying really are records i have liked over the last few years.
Thanks for the comments tho!
