Stayed home almost the entire weekend, just listening to music, new and old.
Had a few slow tunes stuck in my head that were dying for a mix CD.
Started pulling random records off the shelf and this is what came out.
Very slow. Moody. Dubby. Weird.
Pretend you're high and this will all make sense.

DJ JULIAN BEVAN - TAKE TWO AND PASS (http://www.julianbevan.com/music/dj_jb_take_two_and_pass.mp3) - click to play, right click to download

forsaken - boat noodles part dubstep, part dubbed out bugged out Bengali weirdness

headhunter - well done very techy dubstep remix of a Martin Buttrich track

disrupt - blast you to bitz friend of mine sent me this glitchy track last week. See if you recognize the movie samples

sofa surfers - can i get a witness Austrian trip hop band. Yes, there are still trip hop bands. Who knew?

radiohead - talk show host Heard this a few weeks ago at 6am in a dark apartment in Brooklyn, and I can't get it out of my head. I edited in some intro drums for blending

the rurals - liquid English cats taking a break from their usual deep house groove to rework Al Hirt's "Harlem Hendo" (I think), sampled by De La and others

sly and robbie - oriental taxi a spacey reggae version of this old Grover Washington track, the name of which escapes me. From their 1979 classic "Sly Wicked and Slick" (http://www.roots-archives.com/display_artwork/882.jpg#)

todd terje - secret field sounds kind of like a West African version of "Voices Inside My Head"

felix laband - minka weird ethereal electronica from this South African recluse that puts you in a total trance

eric truffaz - and moody jazz murmurings from France's king of acid jazz trumpet

amel larrieux - get up old cut from the 90s. those were good times for this type of sound. her voice is sublime

bobby humphrey - harlem river drive 1973 Blue Note classic that always sounds wonderful, transporting you to summer in an instant

john coltrane - equinox beautiful sunday morning track from the 1966 "coltrane's sound" (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002I5I.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg) LP

I have that Eric Truffaz, good ish Julian! I forgot about Sofa Surfers, I had some jungle tunes by them in the 90s and some stuff from Compost.
