Scrap prices are ridiculous, it's been going on for a while now, stealing brass sculptures and all sorts, lead from churches leaded glass windows. The house that blew up when they nicked gas pipes, Police checks to check lorries carrying scrap.

I was just yanking.

But in truth, I don't really see this as any different. Tax payers still foot the bill via policing and increased pricing. The corruption and greediness is everywhere.

Stealing cables is one thing but nicking brass plaques from a crematorium is sick!

I'm not defending these bast**ds, but a geezer in a van stealing lead, isn't anything like some millionaire stealing millions more to furnish their yatch, apples and oranges.

They've been doing that here for years. Tbey especially target new houses under construction, but older houses are ripe for the picking too.

Stealing is stealing. I have a much bigger problem with poor people stealing from the poor. Perhaps I can accept that these rich people live in a bubble, oblivious to the real poverty surrounding us, but someone who lives amongst the poor, watching and waiting for a moment to take, to make others lives worse and theirs better, is the worst kind of thief. All those people at the council selling off double-glazed windows that are meant for the elderly, soldiers selling off bullets meant for their comrades, councilors claiming undue expenses for food they never ate while the people who elected them struggle to feed and clothe their kids properly....now that really is stealing without a conscience.

Edit: Please note, I'm not defending those Bast**ds either.

Or notice that the funding they gave to a local MP here, was infact paying for an extension on his house/shop.

Things just seem so bad, ridiculous even. Is there a solution? No-one seems to have pride in their work anymore. Materialism is everything. A few pounds in the pocket is better than honesty, dignity and integrity. Cash is king....sell your granny, sell your fanny, it's all good.

I guess corruption is as old as man and thinking there could ever be a solution, is at best, pretty naive.

That copper stealing has been going on since I was in my early teens in Tampa.

Matter of fact, the house my mom still lives in had to have all of the wiring re-ran and all of the windows replaced when we bought it back in the mid-80s because crackheads had taken all of the wiring out and actually pulled the windows out to get to the aluminum frames.

The other one that got big for a minute and then got squashed was people stealing the aluminum guardrails off overpasses, turns etc.

I can remember collecting & taking garbage bag after garbage bag full of aluminum cans to the recycling spot and getting a few bucks. I wonder what an 8 ft section of heavy ass guardrail would get you.

Now, as for a whole town being knocked... gotta admit, that's some next level shit right there. Ain't no simple basehead thinkin' on that level.

Peace

This type of thinking was promoted under Thatcher, whilst the left was being washed out of Europe with the help of our American relationship. Years down the line and it's we're truly infected with the materialistic virus.

LOL

On the Scrap Heap
Check the road signs on your street, your rubbish bins and your car parked in the road outside your house…because the scrap value of all metals has risen sharply. Lead is now over £700 per tonne and copper has hit the heights at £2,200 per tonne. So the things you thought were safe are attracting interest from the wrong parties.

Britain (europe) had a connection to the left perhaps unlike America. This made America a little nervous during the cold war. The Freedom Assocaition was funded by the American right to batter unions and anything else that stood in the way.

The Freedom Association, dodgy right wing imperialistic bastards, Thatcher - Chairman, funded by the CIA (See Thatcher - Ray-gun relationship)

".....Brian Crozier also helped set up the National Association for Freedom (NAFF), along with Norris McWhirter, Lord De L'Isle, Michael Ivens of Aims of Industry, Winston Churchill MP, merchant banker John Gouriet, and Robert Moss.

NAFF was a network of senior military and intelligence figures, senior industrialists and cabinet ministers; its members included Churchill, Jill Knight, David Mitchell, Rhodes Boyson and Nicholas Ridley.

When Harold Wilson resigned as prime minister (amidst allegations of an MI5 smear campaign), NAFF's journal Free Nation carried a lead article written by Crozier entitled Affront to the Queen, which stated that the Queen would be within her constitutional rights in refusing to see a new left-wing Labour prime minister and in ordering a dissolution of Parliament and fresh elections.

NAFF changed its name to The Freedom Association (FA) in January 1979, under the chairmanship of Norris McWhirter.

THATCHER AND PSYOPS

In 1976, Brian Crozier set up a covert advisory committee called Shield, in order to brief Margaret Thatcher and her closest colleagues on security and intelligence. Crozier met secretly with Thatcher on many occasions, at the Thatchers' London home at 2 Flood Street, Chelsea, in her room in the House of Commons, and later at Chequers and 10 Downing Street. The Shield Committee was composed of Crozier, MI6 agent Stephen Hastings MP, Conservative backbencher Nicholas Elliott and Harry Sporborg of Hambros Bank.

With the resources of the ISC at their disposal, Shield produced some twenty papers on various aspects of ''subversion'' which were made available to Thatcher and three other members of her shadow cabinet: Lord Carrington, William (later Lord) Whitelaw and Sir Keith Joseph.

Crozier considered it one of his prime tasks to strengthen Thatcher's ''self confidence'' and to ''suggest ways in which to cultivate and consolidate a public image of clear-headedness and resolution'', to which end he instructed her in a programme of ''Psychological Action''. Crozier described the programme thus: ''The essence of the technique is to find short, sharp answers to three questions: What do people want? What do they fear? And what do they feel strongly about?.... Psychological Action has nothing to do with the intellect and everything to do with gut emotions. Having made a list, the next step is to find the right things to say to carefully selected groups of voters.''

As part of his Psychological Action programme, Crozier proposed a list of selected questions to be put in political speeches such as: ''Do you think it right that people like Jones and Scanlon (union leaders of the TGWU and AUEW) should tell the government what to do?'' and ''Is it right that Trots and Commies should order you to strike?'' and suggested judiciously chosen side arguments such as: ''The trade unions are pricing Britain out of the market and you out of a job,'' and: ''American workers are three times as well-off as you - because of free enterprise...................''.

Britain in Crisis

September 1977

The Conservative Party

An inevitable future split in the Conservative Party between the right wing 'ultras' and the so-called 'moderates' is foreshadowed by the differences between Keith Joseph and the shadow Labour Minister, James Prior, over the Grunwick strike.

The right wing Bourbons, using the 'philosopher' Joseph as a front (though his views are of the blackest reaction) want an out-and-out struggle against the trade unions, bringing down the full force of the state and the 'law' against the organised workers. They represent one wing of the ruling class, which comprises those sections of big business who are financing the National Association For Freedom (NAFF)[1] - 'freedom not to belong to a union' ie the 'divine right' of employers to tyrannise and doubly exploit unorganised workers in getting them to meekly accept low wages, their 'right' to decide everything in the workshop and to destroy the 'closed shop' - the solid defence of the well organised workers.

This split in the ruling class party of big business - which will be patched up and papered over for the moment - is an indication of the beginning of a revolutionary crisis in Britain. It is only at moments of great social tension and stress that the ruling class openly reveals their differences in strategy and tactics. That is especially so in the case of the Tory Party in Britain........
