You people are so unpredictable.I went on a job interview at a law firm well over a month ago.The interview was so short(about 20 minutes) and the two ladies doing it seemed real distant and kinda cold. They were like these mechanical creatures interrogating me.I thought i did terrible on the job interview cause twenty minutes isnt a good sign.Low and behold i have a message on my answering machine asking me if im interested in a second interview yada yada yada. What is the deal on the second interview things, didnt they get to know me well after barraging me with questions on the first interview? In my day you went on a job interview,if you got the job they called you by the end of that week.Damn times have changed.

Congratulations on getting that second interview. The second interview and beyond varies by company. Some only do one interview, others do two or more. Also in some but not all cases, the first interview is done by human resources people while the second and beyond is done by the people in the department you're actually interviewing for. Just tailor your responses accordingly. Good luck.
And BTW, STOP SOUNDING LIKE YOU'RE FRICKIN' OLD! :rofl5:
2nd interview is a good sign. It means the Manager of the dept. that has the opening, is interested.

I think it might be the other way around.I met with the human resources people and the general manager of the department.Perhaps now it will be the supervisor of the department. The location is great, since i have decided to go to the college of staten island,i can jump on the ferry back and forth.I actually have thought about looking at some apartments in staten island, sheesh its the same amount of money as in bklyn.I hate interviews, but who like them.I tried to get into their body language and this and that. There was no body language it was a very distant interview.I suppose you cant judge a book by it cover.
what kind of law do they practice? do you know which area you will be working in? do you know how big the firm is?

Sometimes, multiple interviews gives multiple hiring managers more insight into your communication skills and your accomplishments. In some large companies you can be interviewed by more than one person at one time.
I would prefer one interview, but I have to play their rules, if I really want the job.

In IT, the team interview is brutal. Nothing like trying to figure out, what 3 or more people, expect to hear. One person may be impressed, the other may not.

PHC, times have changed dear. The reason that there are so many "get to know you" meetings is because with all the employment laws and liabilities involved in hiring employees employers must be careful not to hire the wrong person. Not to mention the competition that you might be up against - employers are out to hire the right person - not the right person right now.
As far as the background disclosure you signed, they also do that as a precautionary measure, imagine if they hired you for the mailroom and you had a criminal background in forgery...as a forgerer you would have hit the motherload of personal information, not only do you have access to proprietary company information but you also have confidential employee data at your fingertips.
Getting a second interview is a very good sign! When you present yourself to the 2nd interview, smile, be gracious, dress to impress, and know yo sh*t...be confident and clear in your statements. Remember its thier loss if they don't choose you....
Peace & Love honey and much luck to you!!

thats where i started out, those gigs can be great, good money, good benefits and chances to move up, those places are always looking for good reliable people, gotta have a thick skin though, because it can be high pressure, for everybody, what they are looking for is non-psycho people that are punctual and most important pay attention to detail, even if its boring, mundane and repititive, good luck, let me know if you have any other questions

We're hiring like 60 people here.
Our department is only hiring 1. It's going to take us about 3,4 months to find someone we really like. It all depends on how busy people are and how much time they can spare looking, sometimes.

Not to mention the true costs of getting someone good in the door.
It's tough to get good people, especially for more tehcnical oriented roles. The truth is most workers are f**ing useless.

Right because at the end of the day its just a job.I see people go crazy when asked by the supervisor to do something.I feel if it isnt illegal or puts my job at risk,if i can why not help out.I actually have changed lightbulbs on my day job,im not maintenance it really isnt my job.But my supervisor is the type that if you help out, then you will get helped out.Its just an understanding we have, thats why i dont mind staying late or coming in early.
