I agree with you here. I watched SNL last night. They never fail to make me laugh. Never!

It was funny on some levels.
You can see the point of folks assuming that Obama can't be seen with the likes of Jackson, Sharpton, and Farrakhan.

I don't really see anything racist about it.

I did see the humor.:grinyes:
I thought it was funny. There is a sad reality behind the humor, that Barack has to "denounce and reject" some black leaders in order to be electable. Hopefully things will be different in future elections. But SNL does what it does, make people laugh. It made me laugh.

I have to concur with this perspective here.
I fully agree that it wasn't 'racist' or ‘offensive’ per se, and rather done with taste and humor, but as said by AK, this alludes to the notion that those two Black leaders in particular would somehow be a liability to Obama's campaign. And maybe so, but to subliminally denounce them as a 'risk' to Obama's campaign while he is distancing away from them is rather troubling, and sets a precedent, at least among African-American leaders.
Is Rev. Sharpton somehow incompetent? Is Rev. Jackson intellectually incompetent? Well, certainly not, but one who is an audience to that cartoon would seem to think so.

I'm reading Robert Novack's (conservative) column in today's Chicago Sun-Times and he even claims it was insulting to whites and/or jews (I guess?) that Obama referred to Farrakhan as a "Minister" during the debate. Truly sad. They all have their faults, but Farrakhan, Jackson and Sharpton have done a lot of very positive things for the black community over the years. Fortunately, all 3 understand the deal and what Barack has to do to get elected. If Barack is fortunate enough to be elected president, perhaps things will begin to change and progress toward the day when black people, rather than others, get to decide who is worthy of our community's respect, admiration and support.

Its getting ridiculous.I dont agree with Farrakhan but he wants to be called Minister. If Obama didnt call him Minister they would have been talking smack. Its like one of those damned if you do damned if you dont things.Such is life, you cant please everyone.

SNL hasn't been good or funny for some time now.Flipping through the channells I saw the intro with Senator Clinton and Amy Poehler.
The media's coverage of this election is cartoonish.

Novack: ha ha ha ha. He has a column? So the pinup girl for libertarianism can’t respect the diversity entailed in freedom of religion? Let me guess, he supported Ron Paul?
