I think the rawness of Trax made the tracks better. But yeat DJ had the better pressings for sure.

Trax, absolutely. Nothing but raw tracks (and bad pressings ... lol).

Trax was pumping the out the tunes twice as fast as DJ cuz the pressing plant was on the premises. Some of the stuff never made it to the stores. - FACT

They kind of lost me when it seemed they were releasing nothing but freestyle and hip house cuts.

yeah that was later. i dunno when you look at what trax was putting out it was definately for heads. whereas i can play "if you only knew" or "Used by a DJ" and all the girlies liked them songs.
i hear ya on DJInter however songs like "Wanna Dance (Certainly)" and "Cocaine (Your only friend)" were ca-ca to me.
Trax, for sure. Although, Jamie Principle's Ep on DJ int, was a lot better than the EP of 'his' stuff on Trax. 'It's a Cold, Cold, World' is still my second favorite track of his.

Good subject.
Does anyone know where to Find Trax and DJ International today ?
Who owns these labels now ?
How about their spin off subsidiaries and some of the other chicago labels , like
Underground , State Street , and others ?

You are right about that Virgo 4. It took me 4 purchases to actually get a decent pressing and it's still pretty sh*tty.

A funny thing about the mix on Donnie.
In the begining where it goes to the 16 beat Keyboard with no drum - solo...
the Bass drum comes back in but - a portion of the very first beat is cut off / the unmute was pressed too late. Has anyone-else noticed that Studio error?
As for Trax....they joints that I bought are LOUD......Funking With The Drums, Washing Machine, No Way Back - LOUD!!!
DJ International: Music Is The Key - Great!!!!!! Jack Your Body, i'll pass
The Boominest record I ever herd out the Trax camp was Real Love and I love the hell out of the stereo drum seperation of the toms...that's the shit!! Up until the song really starts.
I know there are people that think I had something against Jessy Saunders music and that is not the case, he only made one track that I liked so much that it is still in my (Will Play) crate today and that song is It's O.K.

Looking back at it now Trax had the rawest tracks, but DJ Int. 12"s was easier to play because of the pressings and they had a lot of goodies too...damn..hard to decide!
