I usually run from the TV when any celebrity-type news comes on, but I got sucked into watching this yesterday.

This incident, assuming its truth, makes me sad - sad for Whitney Houston specifically.

I think anyone in a relationship of physical or mental abuse is in distress and in need of serious help.

Maybe it sounds dramatic, but when I saw this news blip yesterday, I thought...that girl is in distress.

Hell, both of them are in distress.

I get to be privy to people's lives and their problems on a regular basis as a volunteer counselor and it is sometimes disheartening at the least and scary at the most to know so many people are leading lives of distress. I get to talk to people and see how sad some of them are and how desperate they are to get out of bad situations, though they seem to fail at every attempt to escape.

I think there is some element of this in the Houston-Brown relationship and maybe I'm just hyper sensitive to it.
