View Full Version : Well -known vs. Lesser -known Djs

There are some bad ass Djs out here in the Chi, and you know who you are. There are some that think they are in that group and can't mix a damn drink. There are some really good, unknown Djs out there who can really throw down, but either don't know how to promote themselves or just aren't having any luck doing so. Not to say the more popular ones are etching them out; you can't blame your lack of notoriety on anyone else.
There's nothing wrong with self adulation, but damn, at the same time, recognize you are not the only game in town. Tonight, I had the unfortunate luck of someone insinuating that if I had music from unknown Djs or none by an elite group including himself, I was musically depraved. WTF?
I hope it was Jack Daniels or some other form of libation talking because it was the cockiest shit I'd heard. I had to catch myself and kinda let it go so as not to cause a scene. While you can be good, there's always someone better. Just because someone isn't in the 'Fraternal Order of DJs' doesn't make them a scrub. I hate when people try to put the lesser knowns down, forgetting that they were in that group once. I try to support all I come in contact with and will continue to do so. Any who has a problem with that can kiss my disko azz. That same crowd that gave you status can drop you and move on to the next thing that catches their ears.

I mean your husband no disrespect but graemlins/remybussi.gif you
deserve it. It's the same crap here in N.Y , not all of the older or more experienced DJ's are like
that but, still a lot of think that are the alpha
and omega of house. It's a dammmmmmmm shame. :(

I just checked out your post from the other day. I see we are on the same page. Those types of attitudes will eventually bring this scene to a slow grind.

But the person you are referring to will probably have a lesser unknown open for him and the lesser will TORCH his ASS...... its bound to happen with an attitude like that. Good one we are all in this together and attitudes like that really suck!!!

Just a thought...like so many other things in life, maybe some do it (this music) to 'shine' and not for a love for the music.

IMHO:
I have seen them come, and I have seen them go,
...just like street cars.
It will take a lot more than just knowing how to mix records and having "all the tunes." It is one thing to survive, ..it is another to succeed as a human being.
Keep your musical and spiritual Karma intact and you will be able to build your "own house," ....and it will, I believe, withstand almost any storm.

They know who they are. For me to name names would look like I'm trying to start an argument and that's not my intention. It's bad enough people see me as the person who went of on this person and that on this board. I get referred to as such when I find myself in the company of some DHP members. I have a real name! That shit doesn't need to be brought up everytime people see me. I get pointed outlike I'm the notorious Cubs fan. Perhaps the guilty party will read this thread and respond however, it's unnecessary to me because I'm not looking for any explanations. I'm not trying to bust this person out. From what I experienced, this person has skills, but damn, I don't hear people chanting their name in certain circles nor do I see their shit for sale at the record store. People are going to be arrogant and naming this person won't necessarily change that. This post is not geared mainly toward that person; that instance was an example. This post is about how the lesser knowns get put down like they aren't nearly as good as the better known.
