Was @ a gig Sat nite.
Sax player of well known House act was jamming live over beats Dj was dropping.

What is ur perspective as a Dj or Artist working together in that dynamic.

I ask this in light of Artists' participation on this board being almost non-existent.

it's all good if it works and the so-called musician can actually play the instrument he's going to play. if it's the typical bongo joe that shows up at every party with his bongos and wouldn't know the first thing about being in sync with the rest of the music then he/she can go jump in a lake. they get on my nerves and ruin the mood imo. if you want to play your instrument then save that shit for your house and bang away all you want 'til you turn blue in the face.

I quite enjoy it.

It can add a fair amount of interest for a dancefloor.

True.

Interesting flow of energy in a room.

What i'm alluding to is, r u as a Dj in that situation, aware of the difference to what u & to what the Artist brings to the room.

Re: gig mentioned, couldn't help noticing sax player packing up his piece as kats (other Dj's) were making a play to get put on.

Once that happened, the electricity in the room took quite a dip.

I concur.

I did it at a loft party once, it went really good. It was completely unexpected but we worked things out. I'd alternate between vocals and instrumentals and he'd play on the instrumentals of course. It was a good time. But I do hate the bongo cats that show up and can't play on beat to the music.
