View Full Version : As I lay on my bed

As I lay on my bed, thinking about you, I feel this strong urge to grab you
and squeeze you, because I can't forget last night.
You came to me unexpectedly during the balmy and calm night, and what happened in my bed still leaves a tingling sensation in me.

You appeared from nowhere and shamelessly, without any reservations, you laid on my naked body...you sensed my indifference, so you applied your hungry mouth to me without any guilt or humiliation, and you drove me near crazy while you drained me.

Finally I went to sleep. Today when I woke up, you were gone.
I searched for you but to no avail, only the sheets bore witness to last night's
events. My body still bears faint marks of your enthusiastic ravishings,
making it harder to forget you.
Tonight I will remain awake waiting for you...you fokin' mosquito.

This sounded like one of those erotic porno stories you only read about in Penthouse or Hustler. graemlins/rofl.gif Not that I know anything about that. I've only heard. biggrinangel.gif

I'm trying be careful of insect bites - who needs West Nile? Burning incense seems to help - I refuse to use pesticides.

DAVID! You are not right. I was reading that thinking: Day-um, what an incredible, lusty love tale this is -- I wonder who it was. Funny! If that was a true story, I hope you'll use protection in the future to fend off such undiscriminating bed mates! We can't be too careful with West Nile.

I have a theory - not scientifically tested - that a garlic-infused bloodstream repels them (and most non-garlic eating others, unfortunately) Eating a lot of fruit, on the other hand, seems to give a sweet scent that attracts them. This has just been my own observation from times when I ate fruit almost exclusively vs. veggie salads with a garlic infused dressing I made myself.

some statistics on WNV:

Method of Dissemination: Mosquito bite
Vector: Mosquitoes (primarily of the Culex Species)
Reservior Host: Wild birds primarily (e.g. American crows)
Incidental Hosts: Humans, horses, cats, bats, chipmunks, skunks, rabbits, dogs, squirrels
Occurrences: Summer-Early Fall (May become Perennial)
Early Warning Sign: Dead Birds (Report findings to local health dept.; testing must be done within 48h of death)
Incubation Period: 3 - 15 days
Morbidity: < 1% of those infected develop severe illness. Most are asymptomatic.
Nonspecific flu-like symptoms develop in 20%
Lethality: 3 - 15% of those who develop severe illness. Mortality greatest in the elderly and immunocompromised.

according to the CDC, "only 1 percent of mosquitoes carry it in areas where the virus is established. And less than 1 percent of people bitten by those mosquitoes ever develop serious symptoms.

"There were 284 deaths from West Nile virus last year, (but) 30,000 deaths from pneumonia and influenza, and those are diseases that we can immunize against," Blumenthal advised. "So this is still a quite rare condition and not something that people should be overly concerned about."

the CDC reported 4000 cases last year with 284 deaths resulting, yet less than 1% develop lethal symptoms & out of those only 3-15% are fatal. you do the math. unless i'm missing something here there's something wrong with these stats.

the scant newsflashes of people being bitten by mosquitos that are supposedly carrying the virus do not report whether the patients developed any symptoms.
