http://www.djmag.com/vote.asp

Above is the URL for voting in DJ mags 2003 top 100 DJ list.

http://www.djmag.com/images/headlines_vote.gif

What is required from you ?

INSTRUCTIONS: -
to make a dent on the forced commercial nonsense by simply voting, now if all 3000 + members voted we could make a difference.

NB:- if we all voted on seperate people it wouldn't mean anything.

Therefore, I suggest one person, now, it doesn't really make a difference who this person is, as long as it isn't Tiesto graemlins/rofl.gif

SO, I suggest we all vote for

G man

This year

Is that OK ?

Otherwise,

Ron Hardy's soul (RIP)

or

Larry Levan's soul (R.I.P)

But perhaps we could do the latter two next year.....

The thing is we have to decide who and we ALL have to vote and we ALL have to vote exactly the same.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE - VOTE "G-MAN"

I haven't even heard of about 85% of that list. Fergie?
Lisa Pin Up?
Are these mostly trance DJs or something?

Martin Red
08-28-2003, 09:39 AM
They ask for 5 names

So I have put

1. Gman

2. Ron Hardy's Soul (rip)

3. Larry Levan's Soul (rip)

4. David Mancuso

5. Martin Red graemlins/all_coholic.gif

Would be good if you could put the first 4 names within you top 5.

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Stir it up.

It's what the readers of DJ Mag voted, and I suspect 90% of those voters are aged 16-20 and live in the UK.

I did vote, however. My bets went to (in this particular order) FK, DK, JC, Vega and Gilles P.

Dishonest or complying to some bullshit you've created for yourself ?

Dishonest, people coming on this board to further themselves rather than the greater good.

I prefere Gman to Tiesto, what's ****ing dishonest, playing a little trick for a greater good.

Dishonest is having people in the top 10 that are they're because they give good head, are related too, or just have spikey hair and are quite polite to Journalists

Dishonest is people getting props when:-
DJ'ing is ****ing DJ'ing it ain't a ****ing fashion, personality, sexuality, celebrity, how many labels you own, whether your on national radio.... etc etc

rock the Status Quo, carry on - comply.

Lets all vote for a variety of DJ's and then watch FKnuckles roll in at number 80.

Done it! I inadvertantly voted twice trying to correct an error. And it said "Shame on you for trying to vote in the top 100 twice".

Speaking up for Martin here. He's shared a large portion of his free time trying to give the people here something musicaly decent.

Far from being "dishonest" hahaha! block voting has long been a way (and a successful one) of getting people or ideas that deserve to be noticed, noticed.

It matters not who it is. It would be just hilarious to make a difference to that stooopid top 100.

I have voted. :D

and what will you prove by lying? i never said anywhere that i wouldn't vote for a deep house jock. i actually named 5 jocks that are considered deep that are on that list. that's an accomplishement in itself & shows we've come a long way, that people are still listening to this music.

it's the way the thread was introduced, full on zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz with the intent to lie in front of the world. **** that. if i vote i'll vote for who i consider a trailblazer in this business and the one who moves me.

the funny thing is the dent is already there. hyping it won't do anything really. if you want to turn people on, you can't disrespect the people they love & expect them to drop everything to see the light. why not post on other message boards with good intentions to try & draw people to this board? how many people here have linked deephousepage to a trance message board with a proper non agressive introduction. i bet not too many. martin always sounds like he's gotta chip on his shoulder & that is certanloy a big turn off to the youth. nobody will listen.

take 10 deep breaths & think. Fair enough, but you missed the original point because you where too busy worrying who would be voted for, it has to be one person so everyone voted for them, it could have been David M, FK, it could have been Knuckles.

NB: - IT DOESN'T matter who it is

As long as it's the same person that 3000+ vote for, it really doesn't matter as LONG AS IT ISN't ONE OF THE TWATS IN THe TOP TEN.

So now you understand. Don't get hung up on who, as long as it is someone that plays proper music well and ISN'T represented at present.

If I said Timmy some other pedantic pest would say Mancuso. Can't ****ing win, i was trying to do some good but obviously it was wasted on some (most graemlins/conf44.gif )

Lists like these are usually pointless. I don't care what magazine says the top 100 dj's are, I still know who I like. What intrigues me more is that most of the dj's on the top list are playing the same style of music. I didn't see any hip-hop names up there. The list should actually say the top 100 electronica/trance/house dj's. And I would have thought Tony Humphries and Frankie Knuckles would have been much higher on the list. I don't know what they're judging on. graemlins/conf44.gif

wouldn't it be timmy regisford. if anybody deserves any kind of recognition it's him.

take 10 deep breaths & think. Can we have someone like David, F.K, or Danny Krivit if that's the case?

Timmy means a lot, but as we've seen, to so few, that ain't no diss, let's go BIG if we're going BIG

If there's one sure-fire way to kill an underground scene it's commercialisation. Shift the media spotlight on any of the above DJs and kiss them goodbye!

Let DJ readers vote for who the hell they like and leave us to get on with it.

FU.CK this list, its compiler and any rag of a periodical with the shameless stupidity to print this horseshit. hey hey hey, ease up selector... chill with the name calling. i happen to know misstress barbara & she's a beautiful person. just state your beef & move on without the mysoginistic overtones. </font>[/QUOTE]i don't like the ho comment either but calling her a beautiful person in defence is hardly giving support to her credibility as a dj.

Yes, they're big name DJs, but when was the last time you saw David Mancuso on the cover of DJ mag? If David, as an example, was to win, we'd have a new genre called 'Loft' which would be popular for 6 months, wrung out and left dead in the water. What's the point?

Loft , i suppose it would be a refreshing term, since garage ;) anyway
