Why do some do it?

What's the psychology behind it?

Is it ok to do?

How do you feel when you meet the person face to face?

Discuss...

People do it case they are ****ing confused and have no idea why a certain situation in their life has gotten/is getting outta control.

1) Those close to them told them what the deal was didn't listen, now friends don't want to hear it - turn to the web for help.

2) You done did some shit don't nobody know about but you need to get it off your chest (9x's outta 10 men cause they ain't good a hiding a gat damn thing - if a woman lets you find out she no longer cares and wanted you to know).

3) They are looking for someone to cosign their shit - and there is always someone on the web who will do that.

And

Why shouldn't people post whatever the hell they want? All this dictating of what's appropriate fodder for the almighty dhp is a bit much sometimes. Take a look at one of the longest threads going ... People just talking about anything and everything. Can't it just be a good thing that people are communicating without all this post this way, post that. Much as I like the music discussions, I know I'm always more interested in the people and their stories. We still have the choice not to read right?

i only get personal with those i consider friends.

it's like a talkshow thing around here. oftentimes it's easier for people to put things out in front of an audience (public forum) because they are shiedled from direct, one-on-one interaction.

i have met a lot of people from the board in person and i must say, most have been true to their monicker although a little more magnified in print. http://deephousepage.com/smilies/mwink.gif

If someone wants to post their business - its fine and you open yourself up to both praise, condemnation, and ridicule. If you are unable to take any of those three I would suggest you not do it - if you are in need of attention cause then by all means do your thing.

BTW are you so sure people are telling the truth? Are you sure they are not making themselves look one way as oppossed to the truth of hwo they really are?

I personally think it degrades the quality of the board. We have enough subjectivity when discussing DJ stuff & music. The Riki Lake stuff could get deleted for all I care @ this point in time.

Awareness and Music we must spread.

Its about power (like most things). Someone wants to "expose" some shit about a situation or another person in a public place. That way all of a sudden, everybody knows about it. The person writing the stuff feels better because they think they are dealing with the situation.
The power bit comes in because they are the ones opening up about it, giving them a (false?) sense of control over it.

i gotta get this off my chest. i think it helps to a certain degree.

one lesson learned in these threads is that we djs are chasing a dream that doesn't exist. everybody wants to be the next LLV, Tony, Timmy, FK, etc.

- people need to be taking care of business at work because in most case this is what pays the bills.

- people need to be paying attention to their wife/girl friends. most women don't get it. your odds of being happy are better if she is a house head. pay attention or they will walk out on you.

- people need to be paying attention to their children. now a days it is so important to spend time with them to show them tender love and care.
there so much shit going on in the streets. babies having babies, aids, gangs, etc.

i am not saying that its wrong to have a hobby or escape, but we need to put our priorities in check. these points dont usually hit home until you find yourself in the unemployment office, without a wife or girl friend, or you are being called by the school for a meeting.

last of all, if you are gonna put your business out, be prepared for the smart asses on the board.

The history and the music is STATIC - the history doesn't move and the music moves really slowly. The people are DYNAMIC, and that's why people come here.

Take D. Mancuso, for instance. He posts the least about "the music". It's mostly philosophy and politics - and if that isn't "House", it should be.

I agree that the personal threads get the most play, hands down.
My view is based on the rhetorical nature of most of those personal threads. I dont start my own "personal thread" bashing threads and if it continues I will still be able to fall asleep tonight.
Humor is good, I am a strong supporter of awareness and/but I dont belive this is the place for psychotherapy.
