Seriously a Home DJ competition would be a great idea.

Trust the DJ...It won't fit. I have a full DJ studio with a (DJ) Altar. I couldn't fit it in there, even if I took all of the bedroom furniture out :-P

may need some criteria to make it interesting IMO
pick records from a few labels
or one label (e.g. strictly rhythm!)
or a certain era (95-200) (2000-2008)
or something
otherwise may prove hard to judge with so many subjective variables

I will not be participating, so this is just a suggestion

I think a reasonable criteria would be just the flow of the mix. Era shouldn't be a factor. Just something that would move a dance floor OR create some emotion...regardless of your personal taste. In other words, listen with an open mind.

Can somebody make this official with a dedicated thread, a start date and end date, and all those who are involved with the rules of the game. BTH has disco battles all the time and has been consistant with it. Maybe look at their guidelines and see what can be done.

I didn't when this all was gonna start, what kind of music was required or where this was gonna take place. Besides, I have to scramble and make a couple of mixes!!!:scared:

Moksha
03-31-2008, 06:06 PM
as somebody who has had to suffer through the judging of DJ contests before, I agree that there need to be some stricter guidelines. Otherwise everybody is just going to throw up some boring old mix they made last month and nobody listened to.

I think everybody should play the same 10 records... (most of y'all do alreay, anyway ;)) and we judge who is most creative.

Das Cold :-P

Speaking for myself and after listening to others tracks..These aren't boring mixes. Everyone (most) seem to be very skilled and as a judge it would be hard to make a decision.

I am game for the 10 same records, But then what are we going to base it on? It wouldn't be on selection. It would only be based on mixing ability and that could be identical in some cases.

I ain't hatin... the quote. BTW. FUNNY as Hell.

JMHO:acclaim:

PS my toll is at 7215 listens of one track and 6531 on the other..lol

Like I said originally, I use the word "contest" loosely.

I was just hoping to get some people that don't otherwise post mixes...post their mix.

No parameters...Just play what you're feeling at the moment you do your mix.

To tell ya the truth, I really didn't think there would be this big of a response.

Yeah, well if I had space in my bedroom, id bring all my stuff in there, and defeat all of you.

Then Id wake from my nice dream and have some breakfast.
