View Full Version : Is it humanly possible to have a discussion here on DHP without drama?

I am asking this because my post about Dance music was not really meant to turn into an all out race fight.I said before that it would make a lot of difference if folks could discuss topics without projecting personal beefs.
Can this ever be acheived?

Can this ever be acheived? 'member that moodyman thread of yesteryear? icon_rofl.gif
there will always be folk who just don't get "it", i believe threads like those are extremely informative to the trained reader, as many, many characteristics scream out loud and clear - however silent - and one is able to grasp the education, respect and temperment of those involved in house and those involved in dhp with ulterior motives...
as public as dhp is, did ya really think we'd be able to get by without attracting folk who do not have true house as their main focus?

NO. You cannot control how people interpret and react to what they read. Given the rollercoater of emotions people go on on a day to day basis, you cannot expect that your words will be interpreted by everyone in the same tone that it is meant.
Sorry, but you are dealing with human beings here who are often emotional and or reactive. You also have no idea what type of emotions a simple question riles up, which is where most of the reactive responses come from. Everyone has their experiences which shape their outlook - whether they realize to what degree or not is another thing entirely.

DRAMA!!!!!! How could you?! Can't we just express ourselves and leave it at that? I really don't think that people are dramatic, where did you get that from graemlins/conf44.gif (And cut)

Can this ever be acheived? Yes, if you recognize that certain people are going to always spew the same garbage at the firt opportunity that they get.
I've also said it before that when viewing the message boards, one must leave their emotions at the door step.
There is a certain faction that gets off on turning every topic into a race discussion, i.e., they love to race bait and watch the end result.
Bold Soul elaborated this eloquently yesteday. I've said the same thing in the past. Yet, time and time again, "we" jump on this sh*t everytime and allow 10 page threads to spring up. During all of this crap, the wrong people are getting caught in the middle of that crap. What's happens we wind up arguing among ourselves, while the Miscreants sit back and crack up. "People are watching. "Membah dat."
Now lets talk about the music. I'm going to start a new post about my thioughts as to what helped (not the only cause) see off House music as a collective force in the music world.
Peace

No offense Jamie...
But you've been here long enough to know that the topic you posted was sure to spark some combatitive discussions, regardless of personal beefs. You can't post such a divisive topic (especially race-related) on this board and expect everyone to just agree with you and let the thread die. When you type up a volatile, emotionally charged topic, you have to expect 10 pages of drama.

Try having a message board where every single topic is only about music...BORING...My thing is...Yes this is a message board created for the love of music...but I find the majority of the people that post here to be intelligent socially conscious people and I think that it is mad cool that we can discuss other topics that are not related to music...If you don't want to discuss racial topics then by Gawd pass them up..if you don't want to participate in the Freaky Friday topics...then Low and Behold skip over it...Everyone does not have to agree with each other, some people are very passionate about certain issues and it doesn't matter where it becomes topic they will discuss it... we're all adults here...

Some people here on DHP cant face some truth about any subject anyone post.
I think that it's suitable people touch on topic's that set's a tone or a pulse that will bring drama, and inturn, partition one's post to have 2 side's to any topic.
It seem's some people have an set observation, so they mind's are allready made up.
If you dont like one's post, dont reply. Simple as that.

Isn't a courtroom a theater? Isnt the halls of Congress? How about the UN?
Never underestimate the value of drama. It illuminates and affects. Drama leads to the conditions for change.
The DHP is simply a play without a director.

The DHP is simply a play without a director. be careful. There sometimes are directors. WE must be wary of them and expel them when they rear their ugly heads.

Yes, I'm sure I do my part as well. Many as you say "Famous Posters" have been banned on this site. If you think I can follow all the drama from start to finish you are mistaken. I lot of times I just jump in the middle without knowledge of what was said previously. I said this before and I'm going to say it again things are not always going to be\appear fair.

nah, however, i don't think it will be because people have different opinions. i think its because people don't know how to separate the fact that although we may have differences, there are many ways we are all alike. to focus on those differences bring about feelings of fear, separation and disconnection. focusing on the alikeness, reminds us of how truly connected we always are even though sometimes we forget.
in the meantime, bring on more meaty topics!
