I break bread every day with a person of a different race, sexual orientation, religion, culture and/or ethnicity. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Yes, assholes come in all creeds and colors, but we are not all assholes.

I love and am actually quite proud of the fact that on any given day one might step into my home and join white Americans, black Americans, Jewish, Arabic, Latino/a, gay, straight, bi persons. I am, I admit, lacking in Asian and transgender friends, but I'm working on it.

There is far too much preoccupation with race these days. People are good or bad based on their actions, what's in their hearts and their souls. Not another thing and certainly not by anything you can see.

hardly a challenge at all.
the real challenge for ME would be to NOT break bread with someone of another race.
i don't know too many people that are of the same nationallity as i am but, as we all know we are all of the same race..... the HUMAN RACE.

No wonder there is so much racial harmony on this board...we all get along like lil snugglywugglies and share our private times with folks who are different from we

hey,

I actually had the chance to hang around with this girl who's into all what gothic, wearing black from head to toe, fishnet stockings and all of that. The day I was hanging around with her, she didn't have any of her decoration but she explained to me how she feels when she goes out and gets all dressed etc... it was quite an experience because, at first sight, you don't necessarly feel like approaching people based on the first impression you get. But by talking to her I just realized how she was just as much of a nut-head as I was and that we didn't have that much differences. Decent human being just as any other. I think the impression we get from people kind of intimidates us to the point where we don't talk to them and then put them in a box (in our minds). Communication has a lot to do with understanding and well... this was quite a revelation to me. I have friends of all colours, races, sexual orientations, etc., but this was somethin' else.
peace
Alex

one of my most startling experiences was a dinner conversation i had with a wasp libertarian from virginia.....i thought that my liberal views would put me at odds with his worldviews and we were both shocked to realize we supported many of the same ideas

too bad most of us never share anything with people unlike ourselves

it's all about impressions, if we can break that barrier of the first few seconds when you meet someone... we can build lots of bridges.

nice sentiment tho graemlins/thumbsup.gif </font>[/QUOTE]Totally agree Martin. I do it everyday (in and out of home) without even giving it a thought. It might be a challenge in the US, but maybe things are less tolerant than they are on this side of the pond - that's the impression I've got - correct me if I'm wrong.
