Go by the ratings on the various sites. Some I know to stay away from..Banana Bungalow, parisian,Geneva,
Some that are nice: Riande, Aqua, whitelaw.

I stayed at Riande Continental last year and it was allright. Definitely stay on Collins or Washington in the heart of things, unless you plan to drive.

Yea but you wanna be on the beach side of Collins. Most of the ones on the ther side in the heart of things are garbage. Like Parisian/ Haha and a lot of times they charge more than the nice places. Sans towels. Mildew included.

I've mastered it recently. Take one an hour before your flight, then take another right as you get on the plane (that means you gotta have a bottle of water with you). You'll be so mellow you'll be bored. ;)

Alan, I asked the same question and everyone that I spoke to regarding the Doubletree Surfcomber said that it was a nice hotel, I going to be staying there and as far as I know it very centrally located, I dunno about room rates as I booked it as a package.
Hope that helps.

Delano for luxury (cha cha Ching $$$$$$$)
or some of the smaller Art Deco hotels on Collins are reasonable, i shopped around and checked rooms on arrival, most are OK...
but some are fine from the reception and no more....thats why you should check the room first - St James for instance, dirty.

I've stayed pretty much everywhere - the Kent is cool, but my favorite now is the Royal Crown Plaza Hotel ... it's convenient to everything, great spa and pool, great rooms, service and the price ain't too bad.
Thanks for the suggestions.
