Dear Ms. Bigelow:
Thank you for contacting me about my role as a superdelegate to the Democratic National Convention. It's nice to hear from you.
As you know, superdelegates are given an independent vote in the Democratic Party's presidential nomination process. Superdelegates include elected officials, such as senators, representatives, governors, and mayors, former presidents, and party activists and leaders. Only about one-fifth of delegates at the convention will be superdelegates. The rest are awarded based on state primary and caucus results.
I take my role as a superdelegate very seriously. I have come to my decision about which candidate to support after serious thought and deliberation - just as you did before casting your important vote. While we may disagree about which candidate to support, I certainly respect your views and appreciate you sharing them with me.
I know that this presidential primary process has been tremendously exciting and has brought thousands of new people into the process. That's good for our democracy.
Again, thank you for contacting me. Please let me know if I can assist you in the future.
Sincerely,
Barbara A. Mikulski
United States Senator
P.S. If I can be of further assistance in the future,

or call my Washington D.C. office at 202-224-4654 </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
and of course I responded appropriately.
This really bothers me, Delegates/Super Dels should be FORCED to vote how their constituency voted. and the Same should follow suit for Barack ... IF his Super Dels are in a district that HRC won ...they should have to cast a vote for her.
