EX-BROKEN GLASS DANCER. FORMER BODY POPPING CHAMPION. DANCER / CHOREOGRAPHER WITH SOUL II SOUL. NOW ACKNOWLEDGED AS ONE OF THE UK'S TOP DANCE PERFORMERS.
In 13 Mics, three musicians and a DJ travel from bebop to hip-hop and all stops in between. Characters are transported from mic to mic, creating a mesmerising single narrative comprised of freestyle dance, text, beats and rap. In this explosive production Benji creates a live montage of the twentieth century, ultimately working as a human sampler to create twenty-first century hip-hop theatre.
The Pugilist follows two men overcoming their fears as Barry, a tired boxer slips towards retirement but is still caught up in the trappings of success. Goffa is his corner man and confidante, an innocent who's the only one to see Barry for who he really is creating an unforgettable sojourn of truth between the ropes.
These two dynamic productions are from maverick performance artist, stand-up tragedian and body-popping comic Benji Reid.
