QnA: Ed Nicholas – Male Vacalist – New Jersey

A veteran of the NY & NJ nightspots: Paradise Garage, Better Days, First Choice and Zanzibar, we had a formal conversation several year’s back at the annual Italian Music Conference. Today, BounceFM.Com is proud to present male vocalist Ed Nicholas in his own words. Here’s some of what he had to say:

COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE JERZEE SCENE VS. THE NY HOUSE SCENE
Musical Influences.

I find that the NY scene is dominated by the so called famous DJ syndrome and instrumentals and classics. In new jersey its about the music and taking chances with vocal styles and going back to the days when you needed a total package to have a good night without breaking your pockets

WHATS THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION ABOUT HOUSE MUSIC?
That it is gay music (sexual and people identification) it is true that the underground got its name from being identified with this particular community but as we know this music is created and for everybody.

WHAT IS JERZEE HOUSE FOR THOSE THAT DON’T KNOW?
Music created by people from the New Jersey area with a great influence of vocals with jazz and gospel elements.

HOW DOES HOUSE MUSIC INFLUENCE YOUR WORK?
It keeps me from going crazy @ the job.

WHATS THE MOST COMMON MISTAKE MADE IN HOUSE MUSIC?
1. Only pressing records and not looking at the bigger picture (getting your music on movie sound tracks and in commercials)

WHAT SEPRATES A GOOD DJ FROM A GREAT ONE?
A good DJ will keep you dancing a great one will tell a story and you will leave with a smile on your face and your feet in pain.
