After reading some of the posts about Halcyon, there is lots of discussion centered around this fear that dancers will become extinct in approximately 17.94 Earth years.
So! The question is, for the DJs (but anyone can vote) do you dance when you go out and support, or even at parties you are playing at...

I dance when it hits me.I will be very honest with my answer.Sometimes I'm in a dancing mood, sometimes not.Sometimes it has nothing to do with the dj.
I dance when I feel like it. http://deephousepage.com/smilies/smokin.gif

I'll vote for BHouse as he's not here ... He'd need his own category as his reputation is that of one who "Gets the party started."

Yes, if the dj is doing it right I'm dancing no matter if it is a big name or no-name, a happening party or an empty room. However, if I'm not feeling it, I'm on the sidelines or out the door.

I'm with the "if the feeling's there" camp myself.
Lucky to be in the DC Metro area where the scene is smaller, but our local heros really throw it down.
What I'm seeing from this poll is that it's not that DJs don't dance...that's a myth. But maybe DJs are just a little pickier about what they dance to...After all, it is part of the job to be picky. The truth, however, remains to be determined.
Your participation is greatly appreciated.

i actually think it's pretty cute when the dj comes out of the booth and joins the folks on the dancefloor. it says: i love and enjoy the music i spin.
from what i remember of the few dj's who i've seen do this (inlc. jay too, whyteout, and the dj at this party i went to in amsterdam) it was just nice to see them enjoy the music too.
I enjoy the music. Why wouldn't I dance? graemlins/conf44.gif

if the DJ is especially "trusted," others around will likely drag their sorry behinds out onto the floor as well.

i dance my whiteboy house dance. and im a dj.
someone once said "the dj who does not dance is the author who does not read" i think this says it all. to understand what gets the floor moving (which is your ultimate goal as a dj) you must participate and find out what works.

i think another poll is in order: "Hey DJ, CAN you dance?" ;)
Hee, hee ... Maybe subconscioulsy we like to see to our Djs dance. Maybe 'cause the relationship is always that of me the dancer and them the Dj, but I will say I have enjoyed seeing the followin Djs dance: Kerri Chandler @ Red @ The Underground Soul Solution August 18th 2002 for Sam the man Burns.
Doug Smith @ The Underground Soul Solution @ Red
Ken Christensen (one of my best buds) of the East Coast BoogieMen @ yep you guessed it @ Red "The Underground Soul Solution...

I can and have danced. Use to dance all the time when I DJ'ed back in the 70's and 80's. I use to go to the floor and dance by myself. Now I dance when I'm in the mood. Has nothing to do with the DJ but if I dance and the Dj's program goes wacked I leave the floor if I'm not dancing with a babe. With a babe I'll dance as long as she wants to.

The problem with boredom in the djs stems from most of the djs in the game now don't dance or forgot how...and that's the bottomline....
I love to dance....as long as I leave my house to go to a party, I'm gonna dance....why go out if that is not the intent.

I try and play like I want to dance. I think it is very important to play records like you are on the dancefloor yourself. You are generating so much enrgy from the records you choose.
I love to dance and if the DJis banging it it can make me express more.
Peace Alex.
I wonder and this is not to say "I only dance if I am feeling the music" but it suprises me when a dj is not able to get people vibing off the music.
When you play , you are there to make people dance so get into it like you are going to yourself ?.

I used to DJ. Mostly funk, soul, and disco with a bit of 4/4 thrown in for good measure.
I realised one day that although enjoyable I always had a better time in the crowd. I now only ever go out for the dancing. And a big big thank you to all the great dj's who provide my motivation.

I dance. Whenever I DJ, I make sure that the last track of the night is a long one so I can get my groove down as well.
