I have Creole Gypsy - it was given a reissue by Isma'a just recently. Waka sounds similar you could say...
there are some 12s about with remixes - incl. Mateo & Matos also Osunlade. haven't heard these.

I've been bumping that album for some time now (a total sleeper). Anthony Nicholson has also been playing it on Thursdays at Sonotheque. I think the Creol Gyspy album is better but this album is still great. Thanks for suggesting this album ramar..
I haven't heard the remixes and really don't want to. It seems that the industy doesn't respect original works anymore. I know producers got to get paid doing remixes but everything isn't remixable. It more of a way to generate money off of a album or one song than add to the creative interpretation process.

I hear you on this Shannon. sticking to the LP, it hasn't moved out of my box since I picked it straight off in a 2nd hand record store. I saw it nowhere new, nor listed! agreed on the comparison to Creole Gypsy also, though I find some songs on Waka I pull out more readily.
peace
