View Full Version : How high was the vibration in Shelter this morning?

Ok, I left the club about 11 hours ago why am I still in a bliss-filled space? I am truly high. It was wonderful there. I had a major creative epiphany- a moment of serious inspiration. I danced with such abandon I healed a sprained ankle and released many burdens. I caught up with sisterfriends, including a first timer who finally understands why I go dancing on Sunday mornings.
For the folks who want to know what the hot new tunes were, there were two, "Obatala" by Joe Claussell (I think) and "Spiritual Black Revolution" literally hot from the hands of GU which Timmy broke in a major way this morning playing it at least 3 times. It was something else to see folks variously headed into the booth to find out what was playing, closing their eyes, throwing their heads back and literally raising their hands in the air or just plain dancing out from the centers of their beings each time it came back around. It was a deeeeeeep joy-filled journey to the heart of movement for me this morning. I know I was not traveling alone.
Naysayers, I wish for you full realization of your creative visions, the highest joy and peace. May you move to a space where you recognize that the joy of others is not impediment to your own.

ADDENDUM: I am no trainspotter, the two records I mentioned were the two thatwere soo compelling to me that I had to investigate investigate. ALL THE MUSIC WAS GOOD.
Shouts also to RichiRich who I caught on his way out and my way in and Eric Williams. Always nice to see the Chicago family.

Yeah, the night turned out to be incredible...actually the "Obatala" track is actually called "Koloke" from the West Africa Guitar thing Joe did. Timmy played this at least 3 times when I was there alone...I had gotten the jacket on and was ready to go and then he KILLED it again , then going right into Darryl's remix of Floetry "Say Yes" and the place was blazin at that point. Needless to say I couldn't leave then. :D I never seen Timmy jump so high in the booth than when he played "Koloke"

I have to agree with Shalewa. Amazing night there. The energy in there was nonstop. From the booth to the dancefloor. Spring must be in the air. I got there at 330 , left at 9. He hadnt even done a classic set yet. Thats how much new stuff and recurrents he was playing. Place was on fire.

It turned out to be a great night....started a little slow and then BAM!...I got there at 5am and met Ritchierich right away and he seemed to be in heaven. At 5am the crowd seemed a little strange and wasn't in a frenzy as much...Timmy was playing "Koloke" and it was good. The real party then got going at about 7am when the place just got pack, and between 7am and 11:30, when the lights came on, was just PURE BLISS...some of the best and freshest(yeah, I know I said 'freshest') new music I've heard in a long time. Again, that Glenn Underground track was just mind blowing! The new India Arie track done by DHP'er Quentin is just SLAMMING and the crowd just going nuts everytime it's played.
SHELTER just keep getting better and better....YEAH graemlins/OLA.gif .
Shalewa, your sentiments to the naysayers is so sweet...too bad I'm not as sweet as you, they can all(seems like they are a concentrated group that reside in a certain state....and the state of confusion!)kiss my black ass!

I got there ealy for once, 5:30am for me...soon after I got there he played the new GU for the first time and the hair went up on my neck, what a record!! Now because of crazy schedules and the like we haven't been in the house in a month so I wasn't sure was this a brand new record or what but I kept asking around me, anybody know the name of the record with the chant? That chant in the background...I don't know if is intentional or if that's just my interpretation but its one of those spiritual records that goes to the core, I mean I even heard little bells in there!!! An audio hallucination???? Anyways I made a rush for the booth when he played it a few hours later to pester Timmy for the name, all he could do was laugh at my excitement, crackin' up like he's thinking "got'cha"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a terrific start to my week and big thank you to DJs Earon and Serge for the music, I am truly blessed!

Actually, does this "Obatala" track have a Larry Heard type of bassline in it that sounds similar to "Can You Feel It", "Bring Down The Walls" and "I Go Back"?? Cause I heard Timmy play something SICK one night with a dope bassline and I asked Joe in the booth and he said he did it, but unfortunately haven't heard it since..I need to start hanging later

May you move to a space where you recognize that the joy of others is not impediment to your own. Indeed. It's just the opposite, isn't it? The joy of others lifts us even higher. The experience is collective as much as it is individual.
I always enjoy hearing from those who are connected to music and movement at this level. Thank you for sharing, Shalewa

I heard Timmy Friday night in Chicago and happend to be in New York to hear him Saturday. Though both nights were good, it's a drastically different going to the Shelter compared to Superlounge. The sound is 10 times better and the energy is better because EVERYONE is there for the same reason bringing the same vibes. the india track, glens track and joes were the highlights of a great night (morning)..
