Sexist comments and physical threats are too broad to address the issue, it should stipulated explicitly, and it should be determined by whether the injured party feels harassed, ultimately.

Regardless, it seems that the broad isn't being enforced, this way it can and with greater ease.

Well, from what I understood (by reading the posting rules) the admins can sanction/discipline any forum poster, at their discretion and peril.


Plus, if a user is being genuinely threatening or abusive (facetious and jocular remarks notwithstanding), there are other legislative ways to deal with it.


I, personally, like to joke around with forum posters by the likes of candles, DiscoGoddess, Suzanne T, Myor, Alanda, et al. and all the DHP hottie chicks, but they all know that my clown-esque conduct is purely in jest ---- but if one is opposed to such advances they can always advise the admins or the poster.


Anyways, if anything, the moderators should curb down on people who seem to frequently use "ad hominem" attacks against other users, especially when there's a different or dissent in opinion(s).

That said, however, just because you might find a forum poster, his/her topics or posts or opinions or viewpoints, etc, to be unlikable, doesn't make a convincing case to suppress his/her opinions.


Personally, I find men who're opposed to other men's ways of womanizing are somewhat hostile and insecure about their own inherent inabilities. :wink: But hey, that's just me.... and surely, it seems to be indicative in other realms too (i.e.: people who hate on the wealthy for no justifiable reason or conviction, etc.)

The advances made in this case are about something else. Although I enjoy "relationship between sexes" topics interesting, there is a trend we all notice. It's quite interesting when the person doing these advances has a girlfriend, even if it's just for kicks.

As I stated a while ago, that people (here) seem to give credence to my facetious & jocular posts taking stuff a little too seriously sometimes, while completely omitting my more serious contributions in threads pertaining to deep house music, politics, current affairs, academics, business/markets news, etc. Most of ya'll laugh, crack jokes, and have fun, it's all good, and that's what silly threads are about ---- for a good laugh out of a busy & hectic day. :wink:


In this day and age when we're constantly surrounded by the day-to-day ugliness of terrorism, religious and racial animosities, poverty, and even people losing their houses and jobs, a little laughter can cure an insipid vapid inscribable atmosphere. Sadly, in our society, stories about hate, tragedy, etc, make front-page news (a la the never ending tiresome Rev. Wright saga!).


I'm glad many of you enjoy it and join in for a laugh or two (and plenty of DHP users send me PM saying how much they enjoy the silly bantering). I see three possible ways this issue has manifest itself:

1. HMB was an existing member who created a new online alias to goad people into reaction, as has been done here numerous times in the past... with the twist that whoever it is decided to see exactly how long it would take this board, which has been called mysoginistic more than a few times, to react strongly enough to make a difference... ie a test.

2. HMB was an existing member who created a new online alias just to try to rile people up for the hell of it.

3. HMB is a member who joined and planned on being "provocative" and might actually be an OK person in real life... but just took the schtick a bit too far upon getting people riled up and found it funny.

In any of these three cases, I think it is entirely appropriate to officially warn HMB that the schtick is up, to chill with the persona and that the next time it crops up, it's perma-banned.

I also think it's ok to just perma-ban em now too.... I'm pretty sure he/she has been warned enough times already will survive and if I never read another achingly disparaging comment towards women again from HMB, I'll be pleased.

I’ve never asked that anyone be banned. I’ve never been on any of the previous ban wagons or witch hunts this board has pursued. But—stated previously—pissing off the likes of Jonny has to be a litmus test for something?

I think the posts and topics in question are little more telling than what’s on the page; call it a gut feeling, and hey I could be wrong, but I doubt it –never been wrong with this type Jazz before.
