I'll admit, I have limited experience with reggae, but ever since I heard this one song by Dennis Brown in a movie, I really wanted to find out what his best stuff was.

Anyone into him and can make some recommendations?

Thanks!

anything by Dennis, the crown prince of reggae, is good...his earlier stuff(70s) is really good....a great voice......

Dennis Brown' s "Hooligan" is one of my favorite roots reggae cuts of all time...Not too easy to find on vinyl though!

"Wolves and Leopards" and "No Man Is An Island" are 2 very good LPs

Also Pressure Sounds have recently issued 2 very good compilations about Dennis.

Yeah man!

PS: Money in my Pocket / Running Fast...with Joe Gibbs at the decks

also love his early Studio One releases. the truly nice compilation of deepest 70's roots was on Blood & fire ( not Pressure Sounds ) ;)

"West Bound Train" was such a huge hit for him, especially in the 1970s dancehall circuit....

here is a website(in french) with his discography...

I always seem to mix up Pressure Sounds and Blood and Fire labels...both are dope to unearth jamaican treasures though.

As for early Dennis on Studio One: this is pure rocksteady...No Man Is An Island for example

Peace!
