I'm getting married on Friday 9th of May at 14.00 hrs at Nogikaikan Jinja(Temple), Tokyo.
We are getting married in a traditional Japanese shinto ceremony, which includes; drinking saki, traditional live music and a Bagaku Hounou (traditional dance by a dragon god)

Looks like a beautiful ceremony. Is your fiancee
from an important family or is it common for Japanese weddings to have as much pageantry (for lack of a better word)?

I read in teh NY Times about six months ago about this couple who met on the dance floor of Twilo. Little did the guy know she was some rediculous golden child princess. They ended up getting married in some insane fairy tale ceremony in Asia somewhere. Completely insane!!

The western ceremonies over here, are very cheesy, some guy dressed like a priest, hamming it up for $200 a wedding, Brittainy Spears songs (I'm not a girl, not yet a woman) piped through the speakers - there's no way I'm having that!!!
The shinto ceremony involves a mix of music, dance and saki - so I was all over it like a shot! :D
I'm not Christian either - Shinto is paganistic - all about the forces of nature and not about worshiping a deity..
I'm off to write my speech! smile.gif
Thanks for all the encouraging words

THANK YOU ALL...
Just to let you know the ceremony was traditional, but when we entered the reception area the lights were dipped, we were under the spot light and we came into the dinning hall to the sweet sounds of "Come on, Come over" by Jaco Pastorious - which blew everyone away, Japanese and English!!!
Half of my crew have hit the record shops today to pick up a copy of Jaco's LP, 'Not Jazz but Fusion', so even on my wedding day, I was spreading the gospel of good music!!!
LOVE WILL SAVE THE DAY !!! (* Cheers David!!)
