What legendary MC(Not rapper)from way back is well-known for the rhymes:The sounds that you here, Are so funky to your ear, Have no fear,'The name of the Dj', is here, The Disco dream of the mean machine, The darth Vader of the slide fader, No man on two turntables is
greater, New York's number one cut creator, So party people in the place to be, Just clap your hands everybody,Everybody just clap your hands, I left the name of the Dj out because that will be a very easy give away, Hint: This cat(Along with his Dj and the rest of the there crew)Were one of the first cats from the Bronx to rock parties all over the city back in the late 70's. Also, I seen through the years on this board alot of cats/Young Ladies who have very nice old school rap record collections going back to 1979, I would like to know how many cats/Young ladies collect old school tapes from the mid 70's to mid 80's, The reason why i asked is, To truely appreciate how cats were rocking spots and battling live(Some rehearsed,Most off the top), You have to have a true knowledge of how innovative and creative the cats/young Ladies were back in the day(70's), Rocking throwdowns in the parks and spots around New York for respect and to have a very good time doing so, Records were nice when they came out in bunches in late 1979('King Tim the third' By The Fatback Band,'Rappers Deleight'By Sugarhill Gang,'Love Rap',By Spoonie G, 'New Rap Language', By Spoonie G and the Treacherous 3,' Spoonin Rap', by Spoonie G,'We rhyme more mellow', By the Younger Generation(Furious 5)being some of the first few to come out in 1979), And even though those records and alot of others were rocking, I've always felt that rocking on records is very, very, easy, There's no pressure to be innovative or creative lyrically on the spot(No crowd in the studio/Just your crew)If you mess up saying a rhyme, You stop the tape, And start over(LOL), I've heard of cats staying in the studio allnight to get the rhymes correct for one song(LOL), That's why to me, It's very, very, important to not only have knowledge on how to truely rhyme and rock a party(And Battle lyrically), But, To actually care about how cats/Young Ladies were rocking spots(Clubs/Parks)back in the day before records came on the scene and pass that information around to the younger cats/Young ladies who are on the rap music scene today, Who most of them, Were not even born or to young to understand how the Hiphop(Not Rap)scene was back then.

I used to collect tapes. I actually opened up one of my shoebox of tapes over the weekend. I love rediscovering sh!t. Pulled out a cold crush vs. force md's recorded live @ Harlem World circa 1980/81. Listened to a couple of Red Alert radio show tapes. One had KRS 1 on it. Must've been recorded around the time that "Criminal Minded" was released.

LOL Yo let me know if you hear anymore on Woody (RIP) (arrangements). To me cats always sounded better live at parties or in the parks. Like I said about Moe D wax did him no justice.

Say Skillz, You could have mentioned the answer money(LOL), The cat is the brother of Kid Creole(Furious Five), And he used to be down with the Furious and ever so mysterious Five MC's, That will rock you to your knees, Rahim(Furious Five) If your in the house would you please, Just do that Freak dance for the funky ladies(LOL), Mele Mel is the answer, To me, The alltime best Mc ever to spit on a mic, Mele Mel has lost his share of battles back in the day to cats like Kool Moe D and KRS-One, And a unkown cat from Philadelphia(Dj Skillz find out that MC's name my
man), But, When it comes to rocking a party lyrically and going off the top right on the spot(No unrehearsed shit), To me, No one can rock harder than Mele Mel, There are a few cats who come very close though, Like Dj Hollywood,Lovebug Starski,Kool Moe D(Treacherous 3),Grandmaster Caz(Cold Crush Four)Spoonie G,Eddie Cheeba,Les Love(Superstar Disco Days in the 70's)Kurtis Blow, etc, Say Skillz, Your right on time about Kool Moe D when it comes to rocking on records opposed to rocking in a spot or a park, To me, records restrict your talent lyrically, Because you have to structure your rhymes around the melody of a song(the bridge of a song), Rather than in a spot or a park, You can just go for yours for days lyrically(Rock very hard)off of the break of a song(Like 'I can't stop', By The Charlie Cellato Band), I remember seeing Kool Moe D,Spoonie G,And LA Sunshine(the original Treacherous 3/Special K was not down yet)at Moringside Park(135th and Moringside Drive)Uptown
around 1978, Going very, very, Hard lyrically, On the Kool Moe D interview that you posted on the board awhile ago, Kool Moe D mentions how he used to get on the mic when Hollywood and Lovebug Starski would rock in the parks Uptown, The Dj who used to mix at alot of those throwdowns whenever Hollywood was rocking in the parks was Junebug(Rip), One thing i most definitely respect about the old school cats like Mele Mel,Kool Moe D,Grandmaster Caz,Flash(Grandmaster Flash),Kurtis Blow,Bam,(Afrika Bambatta)etc, Is there love and respect for the cats who came before them like Hollywood,Eddie Chebba,Lovebug Starski,Kool
Herc,Grandmaster Flowers,Maboya,Pete Dj Jones,Plummer, the cats who opened the doors for them(The mid 70's to late 70's cats to come off rocking parties), And cats like The Furious 5,Treacherous,Crash Crew,Funky Four,Fantastic Romantic 5,Spoonie G,Kurtis Blow,Cold Crush 4,Fearless 4,Force MC's,Mean Machine,Mercedes Ladies and alot of other opened the doors for cats like Run-DMC,LL(LL Cool J),Houdini,Fat boys,Rakim,Public Enemy,Boogie Down Productions, It's like having a rite of passage, where you learn and respect the craft(Hiphop), And the cats/young ladies who set trends and took chancesf for the cats who are coming off nowdays to have an opportunity to rock on a record, a cat from way back in the day who used to rock parties in Queens by the name of Woody wood passed away last week, Woody Wood was well-known at alot of the spots in Jamaica,Queens like the Fantasia,LeChelet,IS8,48 Park,Lincoln Park, etc, And Woody Wood used to do alot of parties with Infinity Machine out of Queens back in the late 70's to early 80's, also, Woody Wood made a few records in the early 80's for the Sound of New York label, 'wiily rap', Being his most remembered record, Rest in peace my man, Remembering Woody Wood at the Fantasia days in 1978/79.
