View Full Version : How many people....

How many people that attend (house) clubs and events regularly are not djs. It seems like here, 90% of the people going out regularly are Djs themselves and are usually trying to get a gig or promoting something rather than enjoying the music. Also, what should be done to change this?
just a question.

I'm not a DJ. Although I have equipment (recently purchased) I just don't have the patience it commands. I'll stick to the dance floor & live out my DJ fantasies in the privacy of my basement.

I do DJ but it's all about enjoying the party when I'm out. I consider myself a partier before the DJ stuff. I'ts actually rare that I even tell people that I spin. As for the solution I don't knbow that there is one because everybody and their momma spins and the best place to touch or promote stuff is at a party. Plus you get to work(promote) and have a good time all in one. Iknow girls that go out and have serious colections and are bedroom DJs themselves.

Its really a shame but maybe you're too young to remember when people went out just to enjoy themselves and not b/c they were the newest wanna be star dj's.......not really too long ago though. Actually still happens here in NYC regularly......cant use this very small internet representation of the NYC scene as gospel.
Hope you have a good night,
-Mike

-Mike I am a youngster but I have been into house for a LONG time. Ive only been able to get into clubs for two and a half years or so. But even when I started it seemed like people were into it more and there just to enjoy themselves and hear some good tunes.

i deejay, but when i go out it's to get down. even if i'm trying to promote myself it's about having fun, so i don't spend much time promoting. 'here's a cd, nice party, now i gotta get back to the floor.'

That's interesting because I see alot of that all the time. I guess you can do that and still have fun.. I don't agree with it, and it should not be done. I find that to be very disrespectful to the establishment and the DJ. People that do that should be escorted to the door, and politely asked to leave.. That's a no no graemlins/nono.gif
