Yesturday, me and some freind's of mine's decide to look into opening up a night club in chicago.
I have backer's from my old club ( polyester's chicago ) But the thing about it is the location.
I do understand about the zoneing law's, etc.
But it seem's the only location that we can do anything is from halsted and lake, back west to ashland and lake.
My question is: Is it worth it?
By there being so many club's on that one strip, are people willing to come and suport a basic live venue dance club that deal's in house music and that alone.
Do you think that it will be long-gevity in chicago?
we are not out stepping on other's toe's, promoter's, club's, what-ever.
We're just looking for input from other's that's into the service industry.
Tell me what you think chicago.
Thank you.
Patrick Hatley.

I think anything is possible. The location you have is good. Most parties I have had or played at in that area tend to go good. It's not to far up north and it's not to far south. If you want a multicultural crowd that is a good location.

After location the staff must be on point. When I come into a place if I feel comfortable with the staff I will come back more and more. There is nothing worse than going some where you do not feel wanted and respected. If you make people feel they are getting the most for their money they will thank you.

Next is the dj and entertainment. To me a good dj is some one who is consistant but makes you feel somewhat of a new experience every time they play. A good dj should be able to rock any crowd no matter what age group or color. As a club the best way help the dj help your patrons is by having a good system that makes his or her music sound good.

My 2 cents..

Best of luck!!

But staff and Dj's isnt on the card's yet.
Location is "key", and your input that will it last in the city of chicago.
It's a good strip to put a club in, but it's allso conjested with club's.
Due to zoneing law's, our location's are a few. But how would you feel if a club like that would open in chicago and deal in House Music alonge with a live concert venue?
Thank's again for your input.

That locale is good(seems like one of the few areas they are willing to let us have parties). In the summer that area will be off the hook with people. The tell-tale will be if there are incidents in the area. If so they'd probably not allow anything else there. If the people behave this summer in that locale that might be the area for a long time.

I said this years ago that the city was only going to have certain areas zoned for clubs. It has happened. There are only two areas where something like a club of that stutre could kick offf....lajke st. and the area around Kingsbury.

The only holdback is they "The City" are limiting the licenses to 2 am now. It's really hard to get a 4 am,unless you are plugged.

I say do your research and make sure that the area you are going into is not gentrifying. The owners of RedNo5 are having mad issues, due to the condo owners behind the club.So it's best to make sure you are in an area that is not being condo-ized.

Good luck and I hope everything works out for the best.Just do ya reasearch...

Snap out of it. You must be a glutton for punishment. That area is very open and conducive to clubs now but housing development in the area is proceeding at a breathtaking rate. The condo owners on Randolph complained and now most of the Randolph Street market which had been there for decades has been moved. I don't think this bodes well for any current or future club owners. It's a hot restaurant area though. Can any of you cook?

2am? come on!!!
For whatever reason, everyone on that strip has a 2-3 am cirt. and in a way it's bad for the club itself.
But you hit it rite on the head, zoneing!!!
Yet the funny part about this is that they zoned club's in the same area that there building condo's on!
Kind of make you wonder dont it?!
Peace & Respect's

There are always ways of getting things accomplished.

Since you have an issue with the 2A cert., why not begin to long-range-plan on how to make the party go longer---at another spot....(afterparty).....let people know that the A-party is XXX and its like that each and every weekend(or the time that you're open).....

=Maximazation of party hours and music....(lil cash too)...

The rave act is now law ( federal ) and were dealing with the city of chicago here.
It's not about the money, it's about growth, then money.
It's easy to open up an after hour's venue that's illegal, But why the risk.
Im more on central location than a prime location.
A place everyone can get to, that's the ideal.
Thank's for your input.
