View Full Version : Gore endorses Dean
First Jesse Jackson Jr. gave his seal of approval, now comes Al Gore. That will pretty much make him the frontrunner.
Personally I like Dean but the fate of the Dem Party has been sealed.
In the tradition of McGovern, Mondale, and Dukakis, Howard Dean nomination = 4 more for Ronnie, oops I mean Bush.

GET OUT THE VOTE!
I can't find the quote, but , as Clinton says, if the young people just come out and vote, THEY have the pwoer to turn the election around!

I don't know. I'm gonna have to look into what's going on...
He was military. Used to taking orders...
not in his personality, but...
i dunno. I'll certainly find out, though...
What I say months ago? Dean's gonna be the next president. I'm not certain about my earlier theory that Clark's gonna be Dean's running mate anymore though.

With Dean ,there is definitely a movement going on, but can it be bigger than the status quo?
Litmus test : Are people on this very board excited about Dean, or j u s t d o n t g i v e a d a m n .
...Then, i think you'll have the answer for how things stand today. i may be statistically inaccurate, but...

howard dean and al gore are two stuffed shirts that lack the charisma to win a general election.
i hate dubya as much as the next guy but the dems have to get their act together, cause Dean doesn't stand a chance in hell.

The Gore endorsement of Dean has had real impact. There is in fact a REAL chance for this REAL leader, Howard Dean, not only to get the Democratic nomination but to win the election. He will win because .....the American people prefer not to be a people divided. They prefer to be a nation respected among nations. They understand that we are part of a world community and if we don't act like a part of a world community, we will fail utterly. If any of you angry, frightened Republicans out there would read the address delivered by Howard Dean in Florida this week, you would know what kind of a human being he is. You needn't fear him. He's for US. George Bush has failed in the Foreigh Policy arena as well as in the domestic agenda catagory. Howard Dean is acting NOW like the uniter which GB promised he would be. Are you disgusted with the way that you feel when you read the papers every day? It's not fun to dislike half of Americans and feel as though they dislike you, is it?? Howard Dean understands the meaning of National Community--Community. That's a novel concept these days because we are acting so unlike community. Howard Dean has what it takes. Both the insiders and the outsiders increasingly recognize this fact. "United we stand.?" Not today. We are as divided as a country could be. If Howard Dean sounds angry, he is, and appropriately so. The Bush Administration has taken from this country more than we can ever get back in the short term. One would have to guess that most Americans are feeling that something isn't right. Well much is not right and Howard Dean will help us all to understand ourselves and our present leadership better. He will win because he has the vision and the skills to help us all to HEAL.

David those are the reasons he SHOULD win. But the reason he won't win is cause he doesn't have a symetrical enough face like Clinton or JFK. Dumb crap like that win elections.
Arnold, Ronnie, Clinton, Dubya all these guys have charisma - that certain quality that when they stand up and give a speech people actually relate to the guy on a personal level even though he is 100% full of crap. Im talking about People here, as in the general population. The people don't care about the issues, or even what's best for the country. They care about playing the sax on arsinio and who has the best hairdoo.
Im sorry but the only DEM with a chance to win was Wesley Clark (cause he's not a DEM) but he seems to be content for the VP role. in all honesty The rest of these guys are Dukakis-level schleps. The best thing Howard Dean has going for him is that he's not Bush, and that's no way to win an election. If i hear about how they did things in Vermont one more time i just might lose control.

Greetings bitonti:
I must admit that what you say is said and done with passion and has food for thought. I respect that.
Please forgive me for bringing up Vermont  but everyone under 18 has health insurance there. It is something I believe in very much.
Right now, bitonti, the way me is feeling these days, I would vote for anybody other than George WMD Bu$h, anybody.
Thanks once again, for your spirited response.

This is HUGE for Dean. This connects him to the DC inside game, which is very important. Dean is pretty much a shoe-in now, but I highly doubt he can win the Presidency. I think this is the argument that both Kerry and Gephardt are making right now: Dean is a better candidate with the Democrats, but once the general election comes about we need somebody who can appeal to independents.
