Friday night, May 17, my nephew went to the club Glow in Chicago, a week later he is fighting for his life as a result of injuries he received at Glow and we still have no answers. The story is that he fell off the outside back stairs but his injuries are not consistent with such a fall. He has suffered a traumatic brain injury and underwent emergency brain surgery on Tuesday.
My gut feeling and my experience and the facts I have gathered lead me to believe that foul play is involved. If anyone is familiar with the club please contact me. My nephew is a good guy, 28, a poet, a father, a son, a graduate of Kenwood, and Chicago State and SIU. Please Help

This is terrible. Prayers said for your nephew.
I'm so sorry to hear this news especially after I just recently went through an incident in club. I'll say a prayer for him tonight, so let me know what his name is. Try to find out if the club has any cameras or if there were any witnesses. My thoughts and prayers will be with your nephew tonight. Take care and have faith.

@mhd: Your nephew is certainly in my prayers!!!!! If I hear of anything, I'll pass it on.
Has the family considered retaining legal counsel? Perhaps a lawyer can make the club or other potential responsible parties more cooperative...
really sorry to hear this Mark. I will pray for your nephew.

2nd. get in contact with the security mng. See if there's a video tape that was rolling that night.
3rd. If they dont give it to you, or you dont beleive them. Get a lawyer, file a suite, get the police in on this.
4th. Most club's in chicago are corperate owned!
See who has share's, ownership, go over the club mng. head's just to get to the main men/women or who-ever to see if the know about what went down.
5. Still, get a lawyer!!! I hate so say this but it seem's as if he got beat down by someone in the club or the security itself.
I know some people that work in the club, so i can ask around.
E-mail me.
My prayer's goes out to you and your family.

What kinda info are you looking for? I used to promote there. There are no camera's in the place, so don't count on video. They used to be owned by Big Time (Crobar, Exit, etc,) But is now owned by a guy by the name of Frank. I doubt it had anything to do with the actual club. What night of the week did all this happen?

What night of the week did all this happen? it happened last Friday, May 16th around 1:30 or so. how long ago were you doing parties there? do you still have any contacts there? are you familiar with the upstairs door that leads outside? his injuries contradict the way it was reported. please contact me at the number above or pm me here, thanks

Mark,
Your nephew and family are in my prayers. I believe you indicated foul play. Does that mean attempted murder? Or is it gross negligence that the club tried to cover up?
And if he was beat down (security, patrons, etc), that means there should be witnesses. Somebody's got to come forward.
Once again, your nephew and family are in my prayers. Peace.
thank you all for your prayers and your concern, your comments have been a source of strength to me during these trying times.
Thanks to Alan and Pat and Cordell, you guys have really come through for me and i will not forget it.
Yesterday he opened his eyes twice, seems like such a simple thing, but for us it was like a miracle.
We have identified about 7 people who were in the club and one witness is especially helpful, but we are still desparate to identify someone with credible info, particularly someone that works for the club.
again, thank you all for your prayers, mark

Any word on your nephew's condition? Is he going pull thru this?

and he responded to the visitors in his room, and we are optimistic. its very tough though because everday can be either up or down and with at least two more surgeries we have to continue to be positive.
One of my boys knows the guy you mentioned to me and we got some info from him, but we are still desperate to find people that were there that night. Thanks again for everything, mark

I've been there before.I have never been upstairs, only on the first floor.I know that there is not a wild bunch there on Weds.nites,so I am kinda confused about the whole situation. It clearly has to be over-zealous security.

I was there once for a private party on a Sunday sometime last year. There was not more than a hand full of people (20-30 people). Byron Stingly performed that day.

Peace Thanks for asking, i know you have done your share of hospital vigils.
Healthwise he appears to be improving, and that is the good news, as far as coming up with some answers as to why this happened we are still at a loss. The worse part about it is if this was done on purpose then he is still in danger. We were contacted by the local media today so that is a positive sign.
There has been some talk of a reward for info as well.

Do your best to help keep everyones spirits up because that will really help him subconsciously. It's easier to pick yourself up and overcome something if you're surrounded by people in good spirits.
If you think there is a chance of danger still lurking, make sure the media leave out info on where he is located, no need in giving someone a map.
A reward would be nice, anything helps but pressure from someone who knows their sh*t never hurts either if you know what I mean.... time to put on your "court suit" so to speak. smile.gif
Keep us updated....

before i was 21 i used to actually sneak into that place using the back door.
if you were to slip out of the back door there is a good chance you might fall about 20 feet to the floor.
some busted ass stairs and a beat up ass abandoned garage are what lead up to the back door.
it's definitely not safe going back there.
you are liable to fall through the roof or have the stairs collapse on you.

you are liable to fall through the roof or have the stairs collapse on you. actually, now the stairs are concrete with metal edging, very sturdy, with thick iron guard rails and bannisters. the roof of the garage was new and it was being used. on the ground level in the back are two wrought iron gates that requre keys to open from either side. i am confident that we will find the truth
