View Full Version : Yellow Orange....Balance...
Its about balance...
When the music is full on, we have a great balance in the music. The question is what has happended to Yellow Orange as a label?
I have had my eye out waiting for Tony's next release on his label, but nothing.
The music has been unbalanced of late, since I have not seen anything from the Yellow Orange label in a while.
This is sad. Hey YO crew, what's the deal?
Peace

So far, we've got ton's of breakbeat music. We also got our share of regular Spirutal Life releases. Kingstreet is doing their thing.
Silence is the enemy right now. rmember, theer could be a number of reasons for nothing from the YO camp, such as contractual problems. You guys might even have stuff in the works. What gives.

sadly this is true. the difference is with any business is having a vision and standards and then following it through. This is difficult but to many YO records seemed like a compromise being neither particulary commercial nor interesting enough to keep the "underground" happy. If you had people like the guy above that simply bought the product no matter what, hey, that's good - this is a business everyone here (considering those involved) would want to succeed. I look forward to future releases.

Hey TAC what's up...basically it's what Mr. Conrad and Vibes have said. We have been through a lot as a label and a camp over the last year or so. Changes are definitely in the works, exactly when everything will be done is yet to be determined. I am going to see the CEO of the label this weekend and will discuss this with him. Thanks for the patience everyone. Record sales are at an all time low right now, and as a result of that, people who own or run labels cannot afford the $$$$ to sign quality music. Hopefully things can be done SOON to improve that. Maybe the economy will turn around soon. Maybe there won't be as much CDR sharing or downloading from the music sites as there is now. Anyone who owns a record label certainly knows what Tony and Kris have been through.
YO LTD will be back in the not so distant future

YO LTD will be back in the not so distant future Exactly. Not many people realise the 'ups and downs' of the business side of the music industry. I hope this post kills this thread once and for all because people should have thought about such circumstances before posting such nonsense. I appreciate that people recognise Yellorange to be putting out less releases than King St or whatever..........but for real guys.......do y'all really think that Tony Humphries is sitting therte in his office with everything working PERFECTLY both economically and promotionally and not putting out releases (I Dont think so!!!) And for anyone who has doubts....Im sure Yellorange WILL be back. Peace.
the thread was legitimate. it's where people took it as a result of a few misinterpreting the original topic.

Good thread here. There was a point where Y.O. was hot, almost 'buy on sight', but then they did too many friends favours (or so it seems) and signed some questionable records. Also they held back on some good records that had a buzz on them (Harriet Roberts, Farid Unique) and then a year later was too late. Y.O. should be able to easily come back as they already have a worldwide reputation with house music buyers, but it will take proper underground promotion of 'A' grade material (resume the mix shows, etc.). Whoever signs the records needs to say "no" alot more often to any producers trying to sell 'B' grade productions, friends or otherwise.

GROOVE VICTIM

One thing that I always liked about the Yelloange Camp was the fact that their website was more interactive than I though the people from the label actually noticed.
Just about everyone participated on the messageboard, had online mixes, and interacted with many people of various message boards. This is an advantage and a model for many small, and up and coming labels in the near future.
Many labels keep their distance from their fans unless you knew someone within the camp to begin with. That's never the case with Yellorange. If someone had a question, 9 out of ten times it was answered. That's why I admire cats like Toeknee, Doug Smith, Glenn Underground, Frankie Feliciano, DJ QUad, Boo Williams, Bettina, and David Mancuso. These cats let us know on a daily basis that they are on our level with the average Joe tryin to make it through life everyday. They interact with us, give us insite on the music and the business, and the best of all, joke, hurt, and cheer with us.
This is what Yellorange has contributed to the music and the scene as a label. They have come down to our level and as a result, has become one of the most recognized House Music Labels in recent times. The best way to get support is to hang out with the people who listen, love and buy the music. Yellorange has done that!!!!!!!!!
Peace
