This woman made every belgian proud who attended the Roots concert in Brussels... she was called on stage for a song with the crew, and man it was one of the highlights of the concert!!! She brought a mini voice-sampler box kinda thingy on stage and used it to sample her voice live, and she just made the room explode with energy!!!

Long live Zap Mama!!! i may not be from belgium, but i do dig zap mama! heard them first when i was watching a movie by mathieu kassovitz called 'metisse'. it features one or two zap mama songs and a couple by marie daulne on here own, oh and some great french hip hop.

i bought the album 'seven' a while later, haven't listened to it in a while though ['damn your eyes' is stunning] listened to the album that was released after 'seven', but didn't buy it, eventhough it had some nice electro influences to it!

she truly has an amazing voice, once you hear it, it haunts you forever!

Jurren, you talk the talk :D , I really enjoyed 'Metisse', do you dig French HipHop? It's a somewhat underestimated music form IMO... too bad, they're are some great artists out there!

Where is Questlove playing tonight? Holland? Before the concert there was a mixtape of him playing and it was terrific! Lot's of rare grooves and classics...

he's playing live with the roots in paradiso [amsterdam] tonight, and after that dj-ing in tivoli [utrecht] i might check his tivoli gig, though i'm a bit scared it will only be a very short gig. ah, well, we'll see.

french hip-hop, yeah i really dug the tunes kassovitz used in metisse, but i'm afraid i don't know too much about the genre beside those [and the obvious mc solar] apparently france is the largest hip hop marcket after the usa.

french hip hop is superb! I had the chance to meet some hiphoppers in Marseille, their whole lifestyle is as hip hop as you can imagine.

'members only' is located under a movietheater, and next to 'winkel van sinkel', where they also organise clubnights. tivoli is along the same canal [oudegracht], but a bit more to the south. it's a larger venue [poppodium] and i just saw common is performing there may the first, oh and sjefke v/d molen plays there this saturday.
