That sounds more dangerous than interesting (he could slip and choke on a bra)but it's a good start. Anyone else.

Name a thing and I probably collect it. License plates, old road signs, Top 40 surveys from pop stations back in the day, old Hardy Boys books with the paper dustjackets, road maps, man, my wife's sick of it all.

Noticed I forgot to mention my hobby. I collect magic books and practice close-up magic ( Ala David Blaine but I was doing it way before Mr. Blaine). In fact I use to breakout every once in a while at Docks (My club in Newark) and do some magic for the crowd. This was in the 70's.

I like building and repairing computers for myself, friends, family, and anyone else that is in need of a built or repaired 'puter. I also like to collect books and comic books and I recently (last two years) got into collecting wines. Of course records are another thing I enjoy collecting, but I'm sure most, if not all of us on this board do that already.

Fun topic, Hippie!!
Here's a hobby that might be somewhat unusual for a dinosaur DJ:
- PHP-MySQL-Apache-Linux (also known as LAMP), you can read about it here (http://www.onlamp.com/) ; and also much anything else related to web design including graphics.
I haven't coded a full app yet, but I get around, little by little.... it's a lot of fun and has many immediate and practical uses. You can build or at least customize portals like this one (http://www.phpnuke.org/), or many other great interactive things on the Net.
....which might not be of interest to anyone here, but since most DHP readers are already on line! graemlins/acclaim.gif

I enjoy setting up and customising open source web applications smile.gif most of them I just set up, play around with for a while and never use. but there are a few bits in operation on my website.
I bought the php books too, but I think its going to take me a long time before I can code properly smile.gif

Good topic Hippie,
Reading would be my main choice, it might sound dull to some but to me it's one of the most interesting things there is. With each good book you read, a dozen more pop up on your wishlist, and with my injured knee it provides a good antidote against the frustration of not being able to dance... ;)
Peace...

I played tournament chess for a couple of years. I was about a 1500 player. Had I studied, I could've probably been an A player (1900). I still play, just not as often. My DSL connection at home will be up in a couple of days, so I'll be playing more regularly soon.
And, well, Disco...

I enjoy beating recalcitrant teenagers into submission so that they will clean up after themselves and treat their elders with respect.
Oh, you said hobbies. I thought you meant fantasies...
I used to have a lot of hobbies. None of them were that unusual, but what was odd was the number of them: writing (books, stories, poems, plays), guitar playing, dancing, karate, paddleball, racquetball, biking, auto repair and detailing, home design, education, drawing, lawn/garden, song writing, movies, reading, self help, health & beauty, deciphing languages I don't speak, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting.
Now I have only one hobby... not dieing.

There's nothing I like better than to get out my guitar and strum a few introspective chords. Well, there is one thing I like better than doing that but that's another story.

African violets ... I have about 15 - 20 plus one I grew from a leaf. I believe they give off a stronger vibration than most plants so I'm trying to study their auras. I don't know why violets in particular ... they just came to me and seem to grow really huge in my care ...
The aura work is a little hard but in time I think I'll start seeing them. :D

As ridiculous as this is going to sound i would say writing songs. No not making tracks but writing song lyrics. It's never work for me. I guess the second thing would be carpentry. I love building things. I just built our new studio. Floating floors, double walls etc. That was alot of work but a lot of fun also.

Depends! If you don't fall asleep behind the wheel I guess it must be interesting to you. But having someone going down on you while traveling at 200mph now that be interesting.

I have an extensive live reptile collection. Though much smaller than what it was it's still a hand full. Only a couple are handleable. The rest are extremely agressive. Used to have poison dart frogs and even venomous snakes and a 10 foot reticulated python. The kind bad-ass right now is a caimen crocodile. It's not just the biker types in the hobby.

Thanks FK for the links! I'm learning PHP these days, when I can.
I used to do some skydiving, sing opera. @10,000 feet, with nop one around, you can really belt out some notes! (you just gotta remember to breathe! from the diaphram!)
these days, I'm still changing diapers.
to anybody who will listen, I am promoting mango juice for world peace. If only the wolrd had a cheap, plentiful supply of mango juice, there would be no war, no strife. I'm convinced of it!
notice the next time you drink mango juice how LOVELY that taste is, and how PEACEFUL it makes you feel. I don't know why! ..and, pass it on!

i owned a giant green iguana and i had to give him up because of my landlord. i miss him dearly...
as a hobby i collect lunchboxes.
one of the oldest ones i have is from the movie "Clash of the Titans" complete with the Thermos! the other one is a Beetles "Yellow Submarine" one.
i have about 10 or so in all. but i haven't indulged in my ebay lunchbox addiction in awhile. the most expensive one i ever came across was for a rusty Fat Albert lunchbox. the price was in the upper $100s.

(i wonder if you remember this)
so you are not only a magician in the dj booth but also a hypnotist. very interesting... smile.gif

Yeah Kenrick! I use to hypnotise my friends when I was 12. Picked up a book from a friends library and started practicing on my friends. Some of the wildest things I did to someone while hypnotised is age regression, another was making a 120 pound 11 year old friend become as stiff as a log and place him between two chairs with just his head and his feet up to his ankles supported. The rest of the body was in the open no support and having a 200 pound woman sit on his stomach and him support her. Also I had a friend go under and my friends did not believe that hypnotism was real so I had the guy make his arm completely numb and then I had him hold out his palm while another friend distingushed a cigarette in his palm. He did not even flinch or remember any part of it. Goes to show you never teach a teenager hypnotism.

Let's see, I used to collect martini glasses from different clubs (yes, I'll ask if I could pay for them if they catch me stealing biggrinangel.gif ) I also liked to travel as a hobby when my budget allowed it.
Now I sit and write as a hobby. I hope to publish some of the stuff one day.
