yo guys and gals.

does anyone know of any half decent phono to usb external soundcards?

i usually just record my mixes with phono to mini jack cables straight into the sound card but to be honest the sound is crap and all that processor noise doesnt help any on the overall quality.

I would like to purchase an external convertor box which has maybe 2inputs and outputs and maybe even a XLR input for future reasons).

i dont wana spend a bomb and im not intrested in multiport cards like the one that comes with pro tools.

if anyone uses such a device give me a shout!

thanks in advance. smile.gif

It depends upon what you're doing, really.

Assuming you're running a desktop PC, if all you want is a decent audio interface for recording DJ sets, just find a better CONSUMER sound card to replace the cheap model you have. You have to get away from mini-jacks and move to 1/4" or better. If you can connect digitally from your mixer, even better.

Check out the Soundblaster Extigy:

It's about the worst you can do for $149.00.

A good (stress GOOD) USB audio interface is going to cost you considerably, to the point that you might as well go Firewire/IEEE 1394. Then you're moving into the plus-$500.00 range and have multiple inputs, etc.

My 2 cents. Hope it helps.
