Somebody is going to make a killing here on wireless service. I don't know the exact number of people in the pool but a minimum of 75 people are putting together $250 per for 5 months of wireless service because ther service here sucks!!!
I just timed my log in time to DHP...13 minutes.
We have a 30 minute time limit on the computers and the fastest i've been able to log in to DHP is 4 minutes on a good day.
I am not chipping in on it because I do not have a laptop, but if I did, i'd be paying DSL price for wireless service here.
The cell phones are VERY COSTLY but $1.50 +/- a minute beat the hell outta 2.5 cent per minute to a provider who:
1. has dropped calls
2. bad connections
3. a non working customer service # (gotta call tech support and have them transfur you to a CSSR)
4. has about 10 to 30 seconds of Hello, Hello, Can you hear me???
10 seconds may not seem like a long time, 2.5 cent per minute may not sound like a lot of money. IF IT WERE A ONE TIME / PERSON THING. Now do the math, 120,000 soldiers X 2.5 cents of Hello, Hello, can you hear me = $3000 for nothing. 14K +/- a day for zilch! that is over 5 Million FREE Dollars per deployment when you look at the BIG PICTURE.
I give a thumbs up to the guys who found someone to provide service to them because the DRS company that we pay has worst service than Sprint & AT&T combined!!!
The up side for me is...I am learning HTML code short cuts to up & download images so i dont have to sit and hope my pic goes. I even have the text of the DHP smiles down to memory because they show up 50/50 Red X due to the low (damn near NO) band width of this system.
