Any suggestions? I'm looking more for used/thrift/second-hand shops for disco/R&B/rock classics...peace, domo

1.Cheap Thrills (2 locations within walking distance of one another)

2.Pop Shop

3.Disquivel

That's the shop on the corner of de Maisonneuve &
St-Laurent correct?

It would be a shame if that place closed?

Man alot of shops done closed down in the past 2 years"

theres a great store at the bottom of Boul' St Laurent. and several more further up, St L is worth just walking up to record hunt. And St Denis is worth walking up for an hour or two. several good wee shops around there.

Montreal, was considered a Prog Rock capital in the 70s so there are 1000s of records on sale and you will pick up some gems.

what about Primitive on St-Denis corner of Avenue Des Pins?

Thanks for all the responses, everyone - I'll be sure to check these places out. Luckily I'll have a car whilst I'm there so I can get to some places that might be kinda out of the way. I'm hoping for lots of yummy disco treats! Peace, domo

Disquivel hasn't closed it just moved up St.Laurent a bit, just above Ontario where the Anarchist bookstore used to be (second floor.) The bookstore is now on the first floor.

Primitive on St.Denis & Roy and Le Pop Shop on St.Laurent btwn Prince Arthur & Pine are your best bets for disco....

Also there is a store on Mont-Royal & St.Hubert called Marché Du Disque, further east there is MEM records which often has some crazy hidden gems in the basement.

Inbeat Records.. a shop that i couldn;t find.. but i hear it's a nice-looking shop.
resident record stock girl = Bougie Soliterre.

Flipside records in $0.99 bins.

do give us a report when you return back...also, i am intrigued by the "poutine fries". :D

I remember when it was the basement of Palais de Congres,
every record was sold for $0.99
rare or common.................

Pop shop and primitive are a sure bet. I spent 10 hours straight at the MDD one day with Cosmo a few years back. I bought 50 records for 60$CAN (40$USD) and threw 30 of them in the garbage. The remaining 20 were pure solid gold. Rare and obscure stuff.
