He's Black and White and almost a year old. Should I keep his shelter name(Helliwell) or give him a new one. He has been at the shelter since he was a kitten. Anyone got any good name ideas? I'll post pic's when my friend with the digital camera comes through.

Greetings:

How wonderful of you to adopt a cat. Might not be a bad idea keeping the original name as cats personalities develop pretty very early in kittenhood. Also make a particular sound when you are going to feed him....just as you are opening the can. That will be a sound to get their attention on a regular basis. My cat Wolfie lived for 21 years.

Good luck!

Thanks David
I like his Shelter name, so I think I will keep it. He and my other cat are getting along quite well so far.

d Hey David,, thats what I was going to suggest that he keep the same name because cats start to recognise their names at a very early age and respond to it. Wow thats a long time for your cat to live. Please meet my cat named Mew. He is about 3 1/2 years old:

I have two of my own. Nick (20 yrs) and Kitty (9 yrs). They hate each other and can never ever be together but I love them both!!

hey eric i think that's pretty normal for the cat to hide for a bit. don't force him out or he'll probably keep hiding longer. let him take his time to adjust.

i'm trying to dig up a picture of my cats to post...
